GENERAL AIRSTAGE CENTAURI ARUH36KUAS 36,000 BTU Ducted Heat Pump: the shop or office with a dropped ceiling, managed like a building
A professional practice, a boutique, a small office: behind the tiles of the dropped ceiling, the GENERAL AIRSTAGE CENTAURI 36,000 BTU ducted heat pump heats and cools without showing anything but grilles. It is made up of the ARUH36KUAS indoor unit and the AOUH36KUAS1 outdoor unit, the same as those of the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE twin. The manufacturer, Fujitsu General Limited, has carried the name GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026, and its spec sheet and warranty apply to both labels.
In a commercial space, the unit has to go unnoticed by customers, but not by the manager. That is where this system stands out. It accepts a wall control of your choice, a BACnet or Modbus gateway for the building management system, and external inputs for interlocking with the fire alarm or a door switch.
Three values complete the picture: up to 1,207 CFM of airflow, static pressure up to 0.80 in. WC to feed several diffusers, and heating maintained down to −21 °C outdoors, according to the manufacturer.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
For a business, the name change mostly affects paperwork: quotes, purchase orders, the equipment register. The facts are simple. Fujitsu General Limited came under the control of Paloma Rheem Holdings, Rheem’s parent company since 1988, in August 2025; on January 1, 2026, it adopted the name GENERAL Inc., keeping its head office, its R&D centre in Kawasaki, Japan, and its factories. The ARUH36KUAS and AOUH36KUAS1 numbers do not change, and neither does the AIRSTAGE warranty program.
Until the Fujitsu brand is fully phased out, the two names coexist for one machine, and your documents can carry either one. We publish both pages so that your accountant and your building manager read exactly the same values. Sales in Canada have gone through Rheem Canada since February 2026, and our distributor is still Groupe Master; AirGreen itself is one of the AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installers.

A tiled dropped ceiling is particularly well suited to a ducted unit. 11.81 in. high, 55.13 in. wide, 27.56 in. deep: the ARUH36KUAS hangs from the structure above the tiles, and its ducts connect to diffusers set into the ceiling grid. Return air comes from below, through a ceiling grille, or from the side, depending on the space available. For maintenance, you lift out a tile: no hatch to cut into drywall.
In a boutique or an open-plan office, the air has to reach the back of the space as well as the entrance. With airflow that can reach 1,207 CFM and static pressure of 0.12 to 0.80 in. WC, the unit feeds a network of several diffusers, and automatic static pressure detection adjusts its fan to the network actually installed. The number of diffusers and their locations are decided during the visit, based on the floor plan and the use of each area.
In a consultation room, background noise matters as much as temperature. Indoor sound ranges from 26 dB(A) to 37 dB(A), and the fan has 4 speeds, plus Auto mode. Outside, the AOUH36KUAS1 unit is rated at 56.0 dB(A); on a roof or in a back yard, we place it away from neighbouring windows and upstairs apartments.
On the management side, no control is included with the system. The manufacturer sells them separately, which lets you choose the level of control that matches the way you run the space:
- a wall control, either the UTY-RNRUZ5 or the KAGAMI UTY-RVRU touchscreen, or a simple wired control for staff;
- a 24 V thermostat interface, if the building already has its thermostats;
- a BACnet or Modbus gateway, which links the heat pump to the building management system;
- the UTY-TFSXJ4 Wi-Fi adapter, paired with the AIRSTAGE Mobile app, to check on the space remotely.
The weekly timer follows your business hours, the economy and energy-saving modes ease the quiet periods, and group control runs several units together if the space has more than one.
The external inputs and outputs are used for interlocking, something to plan at the quote stage rather than after opening:
- connection to the fire alarm, for example to stop ventilation on a signal from the panel;
- door switch, which can suspend operation when a delivery door stays open;
- interlocking with a humidifier, useful in a practice where winter air gets dry;
- several backup heating logics, to integrate an existing appliance.
In heating, the rated range goes down to −21 °C outdoors. The manufacturer specifies “no low temperature cut out”: the system stays on below that limit, without any capacity having been measured there. The certified values give 25,400 BTU at −8 °C (COP of 2.80) and, at the NEEP test point of −15 °C, 31,000 BTU for a COP of 2.08; these two figures come from different test points and are read separately. The system holds ENERGY STAR certification and its cold climate designation, with a SEER2 of 18.0, an HSPF2 of 9.8 and an EER2 of 10.4, under AHRI certificate 215434560.
Installation adapts to the building. The outdoor unit can go on the roof or on the ground, since the spec sheet allows a height difference of up to 98 ft (30 m) between the two units and a refrigerant line that can reach 164 ft (50 m), the minimum length being 16 ft (5 m); the precharge is good for 66 ft (20 m). The 3/8 in. and 5/8 in. tubing, the cable and the drain pass above the tiles. The built-in condensate pump pushes condensate water up to the available drain, and the electrician provides a 208/230 V supply, for a minimum ampacity of 20 A and a breaker of no more than 25 A. A refrigeration technician handles commissioning.
For maintenance, the filter is handled according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and the ProCore copper coils are designed to resist corrosion. Refrigerant leak detection is built into the unit, one more advantage in a space open to the public. In summer, dehumidification reaches 7.6 pints/h, and the warranty follows the same breakdown as on the Fujitsu page: 12 years for the compressor as for parts, 6 years for labour.
An honest word about the grant. The ARUH36KUAS and AOUH36KUAS1 combination appears at $3,048 on Hydro-Québec’s LogisVert list of October 27, 2026, but this program is aimed at housing. For a commercial space or a mixed-use building, eligibility is checked case by case, and we will not put it in your budget before confirming it.
This system suits the professional practice, boutique or office that has a dropped ceiling and wants a single, discreet heat pump that can connect to building management. It is less suited if clearance above the tiles is lacking, or if the space is too large for a single unit; the on-site load calculation settles the question.
