Packaged Heat Pump System York WP 10 Ton Three-Phase | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
10 tons of cooling and heating under the supervision of your BAS
In a building supervised by a building automation system (BAS), every rooftop unit has to fit into the existing communication network. The YORK Sun Pro WP, a 10 ton packaged heat pump on R-454B fed by 208/230 V three-phase, leaves the factory with its BACnet MS/TP communication card, its high static pressure IntelliSpeed drive and its refrigerant detection system. It has no economizer — the fresh air comes from separate ventilation. AirGreen handles the supply, the installation and the follow-up in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.
One cabinet on the roof, one unit on the network
A packaged heat pump brings the refrigeration circuit and the ventilation together under one outdoor shell: two scroll compressors on separate circuits, the coils, the supply fan and the controls. On the roof or at grade, it connects to the building's duct system, cools in two stages (50% and 100%) and switches to heating by reversing the cycle. For your operations team, it is a single piece of equipment, factory-tested, to tie into the BAS and to maintain.
A factory BACnet MS/TP gateway, programmable to Modbus or N2
The C control code designates the Smart Equipment option with communication: the full Smart Equipment control, paired with a BACnet MS/TP gateway programmable to Modbus or N2. The supply air, return air and outdoor air temperature sensors are factory-installed, and the board monitors the pressure switches of each circuit as well as the supply voltage. The LCD screen displays the fault codes; the USB port is used to pull the history and the start-up reports, and to update the software. The board also manages the minimum supply air setpoint (LLC) and compressor swapping; the control wiring has its own entries.

High static pressure IntelliSpeed: reserve for your ducts
The R code pairs the IntelliSpeed drive with the high static pressure drive package: a 3 HP motor instead of the standard 2 HP, good for 3.45 bhp continuous, and a speed adjustable from 880 to 1,110 rpm. The YORK tables for the WP120 go up to 2.0 in. of water column of external static pressure, a useful margin for long duct runs. The drive then modulates the speed with the number of compressors or heating stages running, which is what the 15.2 IEER reflects, since it weighs performance at part load.
R-454B and built-in leak detection
An A2L class refrigerant, R-454B has a low global warming potential. The refrigerant detection system (RDS) of the WP120 is factory-installed: its sensors, wired to the board, are placed to spot a leak in the cabinet quickly. As soon as the concentration reaches the equivalent of 25% of the lower flammability limit, the system raises the alarm and automatically starts diluting the refrigerant.
No economizer, as a complement to your ventilation
The A code of the outdoor air option means "no economizer": the fresh air stays with your air exchanger or your ventilation unit. If interior spaces call for cooling in winter, the low-ambient control provides comfort cooling down to 0 °F (-17.8 °C) outdoors; for a server room, you first have to check with the YORK applications department.
Should outdoor air be brought in by the unit, the guide provides for the "BAS Ready" economizer (ready for the BAS) for the 50 in. cabinet (2EE04709825), the 208/230 V power exhaust (2PE04704706) and the single (2EC0401) or dual (2EC0402) enthalpy controls. The minimum economizer opening can then be slaved to the drive frequency.
Compared with the R-410A XP120
We also offer the XP120, the proven R-410A counterpart from the previous generation. The cabinet (59 x 89 x 50.75 in.), the weight (1,135 lb) and the rated airflow (3,300 CFM) are identical; here are the differences according to the YORK guides:
| Criterion | WP120 (R-454B) | XP120 (R-410A) |
|---|---|---|
| AHRI net cooling | 116,000 BTU/h | 111,000 BTU/h |
| EER and IEER | 11.2 and 15.2 | 11.0 and 14.5 |
| Heating at 47 °F (8.3 °C) | 104,000 BTU/h | 102,000 BTU/h |
| Heating at 17 °F (-8.3 °C) | 60,000 BTU/h | 59,000 BTU/h |
| MCA and maximum protection at 208/230 V | 52.5 A and 60 A | 47.6 A and 60 A |
| Control in the configuration offered | BACnet MS/TP, Modbus and N2 card | Stand-alone Smart Equipment |
| Refrigerant detection | Factory RDS | None |
With identical COPs (3.5 and 2.25), the WP120 takes the lead on cooling and arrives ready for the BAS; the XP120 suits a building run by thermostat or a fleet already on R-410A.
Electrical connection and backup heat
As delivered, the unit calls for a circuit with a minimum circuit ampacity (MCA) of 52.5 A, protected by a dual-element time-delay fuse or an HACR breaker of 60 A maximum, at 208 V as at 230 V; adding a power exhaust brings those values to 58 A and 70 A. The power feed enters at a single point, on the side or underneath, and the disconnect, not supplied from the factory, is installed in the field.
The 10 ton size accepts four electric heat kits, all two-stage and connected to the same power point as the unit:
- E18 (2TP04531825): 13.5 kW at 208 V, 18 kW at 230 V
- E24 (2TP04532425): 18 kW at 208 V, 24 kW at 230 V
- E36 (2TP04533625): 25.5 kW at 208 V, 34 kW at 230 V
- E54 (2TP04525425): 40.6 kW at 208 V, 54 kW at 230 V
The minimum airflow is 3,000 CFM, or 3,500 CFM with the E54. At 208 V, the MCA reaches 99.4 A with the E18 and 141 A with the E36, for example. The choice of kit follows your heat load and the spare capacity of your electrical service.
What to plan before the lift
- YORK roof curbs with insulated deck, shipped knocked down: 1RC0470 (8 in.) or 1RC0471 (14 in.); the 1RC0472 adapter (10 in.) sits on the existing curb of a Sunline from 7.5 to 12.5 tons.
- Perimeter base rails drilled for the crane; on four supports, the load ranges from 209 to 369 lb depending on the corner.
- Clearances: 36 in. in front, behind and on the left, 12 in. on the right, 72 in. above.
- Side connection: the installer moves the two factory covers to the bottom openings, without cutting a panel.
AirGreen coordinates your project with the integrator and the electrician
AirGreen's free on-site estimate runs from the roof to the supervision station: ducts and static pressure, heat load, three-phase service, existing curb, crane access and the protocol of your BAS. The quote then compares the WP120 and the XP120.
At installation, we coordinate the crane, the electrician and your integrator, adjust the pulley and the drive to the measured airflow, then commission the board on the BAS network. Our technicians then take care of the planned maintenance and, from Montreal, get quickly to Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore.
