GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH KZAH R-32 Wall Mounted Heat Pump | 15,000 BTU | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH 15,000 BTU: a single Wall-Mounted Heat Pump for the double room of a plex, the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE under its new name
In a plex in Vieux-Longueuil or Saint-Hubert, the living room and the dining room often form a single long room, laid out in a row, with the kitchen at the end and the closed bedrooms at the back. It is that double room, where you live from morning to night, that you want to cool and heat with a single wall-mounted heat pump, without ductwork or a second unit. The question is not only a matter of BTU: it is a matter of how far the air travels, of the coldest certified point and of where the wall unit goes.
The model we propose for this case is the GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH 15,000 BTU, and it is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH without the slightest difference: indoor unit ASUH15KZAS, outdoor unit AOUH15KZAH1, AHRI certificate 214888804, same certified values, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026; only the name changed. What recommends this model for a double room is three values: an airflow of 594 CFM, heating certified down to −26 °C with 16,400 BTU/h still available at that temperature, and a COP of 1.92 at −26 °C, the highest in its family.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
You will see both names on our site, at our distributor and perhaps on the box that arrives at your home, so here is where that comes from. Paloma Rheem Holdings, which has owned Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General in August 2025. Since January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited has been called GENERAL Inc.; the head office and the R&D centre stayed in Kawasaki, Japan, and the factories, the AIRSTAGE products, the model numbers and the warranty program did not change. The GENERAL name dates from 1946 as a trademark; the company, founded in 1936, celebrates the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. In Canada, Rheem Canada has handled sales since February 2026, and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
As long as the Fujitsu brand is being phased out gradually, one and the same unit circulates under two logos. We chose to keep both pages online, because our customers still search for the name they know, and to give both pages exactly the same values, because there are no others. The table below is the proof, line by line.

Covering a double room with a single wall unit: how far the air travels. A wall unit does not heat a room by radiation, it heats it by moving air. What matters in a row of rooms is therefore how far that air goes. With an airflow of 594 CFM and louvers motorized on both axes, sweeping up and down and left to right, this unit installed at the short end of the room sends the air along the ceiling to the far end, from where it comes down and returns. That movement is what gives a uniform temperature from the living room to the dining room, with no hot spot under the unit and no cold corner near the windows. One honest clarification: air does not pass through closed doors. The bedrooms at the back of the plex keep their baseboards or will call for another solution; what this wall unit covers is the open floor, and it covers it well.
Capacity where it is coldest. The values come from NEEP, the cold-climate heat pump database, under AHRI certificate 214888804. At −26 °C, the coldest point of its certification, the unit still delivers up to 16,400 BTU/h, more than its 15,000 BTU cooling rating, with a COP of 1.92; that is the best efficiency at −26 °C in the ORION XLTH family, whose other capacities sit between 1.65 and 1.81 at that temperature. At −15 °C, it climbs to 21,000 BTU/h with a COP of 2.10. At −8 °C, at the certified operating point, it delivers 11,400 BTU/h with a COP of 3.44. COP is the number of kilowatt-hours of heat returned for one kilowatt-hour consumed; a baseboard returns one. In an old plex, with its brick walls, tall windows and drafts, it is the −15 °C value that carries most of the winter, and the −26 °C reserve that gets you through the cold snap without the floor cooling down.
HSPF2 of 12.7 and SEER2 of 27.5: the whole season, not just the coldest night. HSPF2 measures average heating efficiency over an entire season; at 12.7, the unit returns a lot of heat for little electricity, and that is the figure that shows up on the Hydro-Québec bill, far more than the COP of a single night. The SEER2 of 27.5 and the EER2 of 14.8 play the same role in air conditioning, for a double room that takes the sun through two facades. In mild weather, certified maximum capacity reaches 25,000 BTU/h at 8 °C, 67% more than the nominal size, which brings a whole floor back to the right temperature when you get home from work.
Noise, when you have neighbours above and below. The indoor unit runs between 26 and 46 dB(A) depending on speed; at cruising speed, it is heard less than the kitchen refrigerator at the end of the room. The outdoor unit runs at 50 dB(A). In a plex, it often ends up at the back, near a balcony or under the window of another unit, and its location is decided with you, and if need be with the co-owners or the landlord, before the quote. Wi-Fi is included: the setpoint is managed from your phone, from the dining room as from the office.
Installation in a plex. No ductwork, no ceiling to open: a wall unit inside, a unit outside, a refrigerant line and a drain through the wall. The particularities of a plex, we know them:
- The wall unit: on the wall at the short end of the row, high up, aimed lengthwise, away from curtains and above door-frame height.
- The outdoor unit: on a wall bracket anchored to the structure, on the ground on a pad for a ground-floor unit, or on a balcony only if it allows it, with clearance for air and defrost water and with respect for the neighbours.
- The refrigerant line: insulated 1/4 and 1/2 in copper through the brick, a sealed penetration, a protective line cover outside, the shortest route possible.
- Drainage: condensate drained by gravity; a condensate pump if the floor or the slope requires it, written into the quote.
- Electrical: a dedicated 208/230 V circuit with 20 A protection (MCA 18, MOP 20), installed by a licensed electrician, after checking the unit's panel.
- Start-up: nitrogen leak test, vacuum, start-up, temperature readings from one end of the room to the other, Wi-Fi pairing.
LogisVert grant. The model is ENERGY STAR certified for cold climates (ID 3554346) and listed among the heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, for $1,368 according to the list of October 27, 2026. The list changes; we confirm the amount at quote time, and our invoice identifies both units and the AHRI certificate so that your application is complete.
Maintenance and filters. The indoor filters lift out by hand and rinse under warm water before going back in, dry. In a room that opens onto the kitchen, they collect more grease and cooking dust than in a bedroom; regular rinsing keeps the 594 CFM airflow, which is the whole point of this model in a row of rooms. Outside, keep the area around the unit free of snow. Every year, our refrigeration technician comes by to check the R-32 charge, the condition of the coil and the drain flow. The parts and the procedure did not change with the name, and neither did our service; an extended warranty is offered on request.
Who it is for, and for which floor. The plex unit or single-floor condo in Longueuil whose living space is long and open, the owner-occupant who wants one well-placed unit rather than two badly placed ones, the landlord who equips a rental unit with a model that is subsidized and certified for deep cold. If the floor is partitioned, if the ceiling is very high or if a closed kitchen must also be covered, a single wall unit will not be enough, and we will tell you after measuring, not after installing.
