GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH KZAH R-32 Wall-Mounted Heat Pump | 9,000 BTU | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH 9,000 BTU: the Fujitsu Wall-Mounted Heat Pump under its new name, for a home office that stays quiet and warm at −26 °C
The GENERAL AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH 9,000 BTU and the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE ORION XLTH 9,000 BTU come off the same assembly line and carry the same numbers: ASUH09KZAS for the indoor unit, AOUH09KZAH1 for the outdoor unit, AHRI certificate 214888800 for the pair. Same values certified by NEEP, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. The manufacturer was called Fujitsu General Limited; since January 1, 2026, it is called GENERAL Inc., and the Fujitsu name is gradually leaving the equipment.
We wrote this page with one very specific room in mind: the home office. The one set up in a bedroom of a Côte-des-Neiges apartment or in the back room of a Villeray flat, where you spend your days on video calls and where two things are unforgivable: noise and cold. A fan you can hear in the microphone, a room still freezing when you sit down because the baseboard could not keep up overnight, that is what wears down a workday before it even begins.
The ORION XLTH 9,000 BTU answers both. Its indoor unit goes down to 23 dB(A) at its lowest speed, and its heating is guaranteed down to −26 °C, with a COP of 2.26 at −15 °C, the best in the entire ORION XLTH family. We detail those figures below, and above all what they are worth in a workroom.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
Two dates explain the new name. In August 2025, Paloma Rheem Holdings, owner of Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General. On January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc. Between the two, nothing moved in Kawasaki, Japan, where the head office and the research and development centre still stand; the factories, the AIRSTAGE products, the model numbers and the warranty program stayed the same. The GENERAL name itself goes back to 1946 as a trademark; the company, founded in 1936, marks the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. Canadian sales have gone through Rheem Canada since February 2026, our distributor remains Groupe Master and AirGreen remains an AIRSTAGE Elite Plus installer.
If we keep two pages for a single machine, it is because the transition happens box by box: some deliveries still carry the Fujitsu logo, others already carry GENERAL's. You may be looking for the model under the old name, your neighbour under the new one; you will land on the same heat pump and the same values, as the table shows line by line.

Silence first. In an office, the noise of a heat pump is heard twice: by you, and by the person at the other end of the call. The indoor unit of the ORION XLTH 9,000 BTU runs between 23 and 44 dB(A) depending on fan speed. At 23 dB(A), it sits below the background noise of a quiet room; a microphone does not pick it up, and you stop hearing it after the first day. Once the setpoint is reached, the unit modulates its output instead of stopping and restarting, which avoids the fan surges that catch the ear. Motorized louvers on both axes and 571 CFM of airflow send the air along the ceiling rather than onto your neck or the screen. The outdoor unit, for its part, runs at 47 dB(A): placed away from the office window, it does not join your calls.
Deep-cold heating, with the figures to back it. The values that follow come from NEEP, the cold-climate heat pump database, under AHRI certificate 214888800. At −8 °C, at its certified operating point, the unit delivers 7,500 BTU/h with a COP of 3.6: more than three and a half units of heat for every unit of electricity purchased, where a baseboard returns just one. At −15 °C, pushed to its maximum, it climbs to 15,400 BTU/h with a COP of 2.26, the best efficiency at that temperature in the whole ORION XLTH family, whose other capacities range from 2.08 to 2.16. At −26 °C, the coldest point of its certification, it still delivers up to 11,400 BTU/h, more than its nominal 9,000 BTU size, with a COP of 1.7. For a closed office in Villeray, that means a room heated by the heat pump alone all winter, January nights included, and a baseboard that serves only as a backup.
What HSPF2 and SEER2 change on the bill. The HSPF2 of 13.3 sums up efficiency over a whole heating season: it is the heat delivered divided by the electricity consumed, from the first cold of October to the last frost of April. The higher it is, the larger the share of heat pulled for free from the outside air, and 13.3 is a top-of-the-line value for a wall-mounted heat pump. In summer, the SEER2 of 33.1 and the EER2 of 18.8 do the same job in cooling: a cool office during the heat wave, window closed for the microphone, without driving up the Hydro-Québec bill. In mild weather, the unit keeps up to 23,000 BTU/h in reserve at 8 °C, more than double its nominal size, enough to quickly warm a room left cold during a week away.
Included Wi-Fi, for an office schedule. The Wi-Fi module comes with this model. You program a lower setpoint at night and on weekends, a return to working temperature before your first meeting, and you check from your phone that the room is ready when you come back from an appointment. That is what separates a heat pump you set once from a heat pump that truly follows your schedule.
The installation in a workroom. Our refrigeration technicians install a wall unit in one day, with no ductwork: an indoor unit, an outdoor unit, and a refrigerant line, a cable and a drain that pass through a single hole in the wall. In an office, the location is decided around the workstation:
- The wall unit: high up, on a wall that does not send the air stream onto your neck or directly at the screen, with enough clearance to pull out the filters.
- The outdoor unit: on a wall bracket or a ground pad, raised above the snow, away from the office window and the neighbours' windows, in a Côte-des-Neiges building as in a Villeray plex.
- The refrigerant line: insulated 1/4 and 3/8 in copper, protected by a line cover outside, with as few bends as possible to preserve efficiency.
- Drainage: summer condensate flows by gravity to the outside; if the route does not allow it, a condensate pump takes over, and we tell you at quote time.
- Electrical: a dedicated 208/230 V circuit with 15 A protection (MCA 15, MOP 15), connected by a licensed electrician; we look at the panel during the visit.
- Commissioning: nitrogen leak test, vacuum, start-up, supply-air temperature check, Wi-Fi pairing and night-speed setting with you.
Maintenance and indoor filters. An office collects paper and computer dust; the indoor filters pull out by hand, rinse under warm water and go back in once dry, a step to repeat regularly in cooling season as in heating season to keep the airflow and the silence. In winter, clear the snow around the outdoor unit after a storm. The annual service by a refrigeration technician covers the R-32 refrigerant charge, the coil, the pan and the drain, and the electrical connections; the parts are those of the Fujitsu version.
ENERGY STAR and LogisVert. The model is ENERGY STAR certified for cold climates, under ID 3554344. On the other hand, it is not on the list of heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program according to the list of October 27, 2026; so we promise you no amount for this model, and we will put it in black and white on the quote rather than leave any doubt. If the grant is decisive for you, we have listed models of similar capacity and we will propose them alongside.
Who this model is for. The person who works from home all week in a closed room, in Côte-des-Neiges, Villeray or elsewhere in Montreal, and who wants an office at the same temperature from morning to evening without hearing the unit; the freelancer whose office occupies the coldest room of the apartment; the couple who share a workspace and want to cool it without chilling the whole flat. If the workroom is an open area or if you want to heat the whole floor, a larger capacity will be the better fit, and we will tell you so on site.
