GENERAL AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9 000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump throughout Greater Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
GENERAL AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9,000 BTU: the Fujitsu Wall-Mounted Heat Pump under its new name, for the closed room in Côte-Saint-Luc where cool air comes first
This page does not start with winter. It starts with a bedroom whose door is closed at night, an office where you work with the blinds drawn, a child's room under the roof of a Côte-Saint-Luc bungalow: closed rooms, modest in size, where July's heat builds up and never leaves. For these rooms, heating is a shoulder-season bonus; air conditioning is the reason to buy. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9,000 BTU is made for that case, with an EER2 of 14.3 at the height of the heat and a SEER2 of 26.5 over the season.
The name first, so that everything is clear. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9,000 BTU is the same wall-mounted heat pump as the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9,000 BTU: same indoor unit ASUG09LMAS, same outdoor unit AOUG09LMAS1, same AHRI certificate 204752937, same values, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. Fujitsu General Limited, its manufacturer, has been called GENERAL Inc. since January 1, 2026. The figures on this page are those published by the manufacturer, and we write only those.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
In August 2025, Paloma Rheem Holdings, which has owned Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General. On January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc., and the Fujitsu brand is being phased out of the equipment. Nothing moved behind the name: same head office and same research centre in Kawasaki, Japan, same factories, same AIRSTAGE products, same model numbers, same warranty program. The GENERAL name is in fact older than many brands on the market: it has been in use since 1946, and the company, founded in 1936, marks the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. In Canada, Rheem Canada has handled sales since February 2026, and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
During the transition, the same machine is sold under both names. So we keep both pages online, and the table below lines them up specification by specification so that you can check that they say the same thing.

For the version under the original name, see the page of the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE LMAS1 9,000 BTU; you will find the same units and the same warranty there.
Let's start with the day that justifies the purchase: the heat wave. The EER2 measures cooling efficiency at the moment when it is hottest outside, when the unit is working at full load. At 14.3, the LMAS1 delivers a lot of cooling for every kilowatt-hour consumed precisely at the hour when the grid and your meter are under the most strain. The SEER2 of 26.5 takes over for the whole season: it measures the cooling delivered from early June to late August divided by the electricity consumed, counting the mild days, when the unit idles, as much as the stifling ones. A value this high for a 9,000 BTU comes from the fact that the machine modulates its output instead of stopping and restarting: in a small closed room, that is exactly what is needed, because a unit that keeps stopping cools the air without ever drying it.
The closed room has another requirement: silence. With the door shut, there is only you and the unit. The LMAS1's indoor unit runs between 19 and 43 dB(A) depending on fan speed; at low speed, at night, it makes less noise than the refrigerator down the hall, and that is the speed it spends most of a summer night at once the room has cooled down. The outdoor unit holds at 48 dB(A), a discreet level for a yard or laneway wall, still worth keeping in mind if a neighbour's bedroom window is right there.
And winter, then. The manufacturer guarantees heating operation down to −15 °C and publishes a capacity of 7,400 BTU/h at −8 °C, an ordinary December temperature in Côte-Saint-Luc. For a bedroom or a closed office, that is enough to keep the room comfortable without the baseboard starting, from fall into the heart of winter, and again in spring. The HSPF2 of 11.5 sums up the efficiency over the whole heating season: the higher it is, the less electricity you pay for the same heat, and 11.5 is a good value for a unit that is not sold as a deep-cold machine. Below −15 °C, the baseboard or the central heating takes over; the LMAS1 does not claim to heat you on its own in January, and neither will we. We call it supplemental heating, and it is a supplement that works many hours a year.
Two things to know before asking for a quote. The model is not ENERGY STAR certified and is not listed among the heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, according to the list of October 27, 2026; we therefore promise you no grant. The Wi-Fi module is offered as an option: useful if you want to start the bedroom's air conditioning an hour before you get home, without leaving it running all day.
Here is how installation day goes in a closed room of a Côte-Saint-Luc bungalow or apartment, with no ductwork, through a single hole in the wall:
- We mount the compact indoor unit high on the wall chosen at the estimate visit: preferably an exterior wall, for a short line, and never facing the bed or the desk chair, so that the cool air runs along the ceiling before coming down.
- We set the outdoor unit on a wall bracket or on the ground, raised above the snow, with the required clearance for air and defrost water.
- We run the insulated 1/4 and 3/8 in copper refrigerant line, the control cable and the drain, protected by a line cover outdoors.
- We give the drain a slope toward the outside; when the layout of the room does not allow it, a condensate pump takes over, and you know it before the day of the work.
- A licensed electrician connects the dedicated 208/230 V circuit to the panel, which we examined at the estimate.
- We finish with the nitrogen leak test, the vacuum, the start-up, the supply-air temperature check and a demonstration of the remote.
Maintenance comes down to two habits. The indoor filters pull out by hand and rinse under warm water; in a bedroom, where the unit runs every summer night, regular rinsing keeps the airflow and the efficiency at the published level. Once a year, a refrigeration technician cleans the coil and the drain pan and checks the R-410A refrigerant charge. Same steps, same parts as for the Fujitsu version.
This model suits the person who sleeps badly as soon as the bedroom passes a certain temperature, the one who works from home in a closed, south-facing office, the parents who want a cool, quiet child's room without a fan, and anyone who already heats the house properly but wants to shut off one room's baseboard during the mild months. It does not suit a double room, an open living area or a project whose first purpose is heating in deep cold; in those cases, we will propose another capacity or a series certified for cold climates.
