GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAS1 15 000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAS1 15,000 BTU: the renamed Fujitsu Wall-Mounted Heat Pump, certified down to −21 °C and eligible for LogisVert, for the double room of a two-storey home in Lorraine or Rosemère
In a two-storey home in Lorraine or Rosemère, the double room on the ground floor, living room and dining room combined, is where the family spends its evenings, and it is also the hardest to heat without waste: the open staircase sends the heat upstairs, the patio door lets in January's cold, and the baseboards run flat out for a middling result. Fifteen thousand BTU is the intermediate capacity of the LZAS1 family, and it is often the right one for that room: enough to keep the living-dining room warm at −21 °C, not so big that it runs in fits and starts in spring. The GENERAL AIRSTAGE LZAS1 15,000 BTU adds an ENERGY STAR cold-climate certification and a place on Hydro-Québec's LogisVert list.
This model is the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE LZAS1 15,000 BTU, without the slightest difference: same indoor unit ASUG15LZBS, same outdoor unit AOUG15LZAS1, same AHRI certificate 206597212, same values certified by NEEP, same warranty of 12 years on the compressor, 12 years on parts and 6 years on labour. Its manufacturer, Fujitsu General Limited, became GENERAL Inc. on January 1, 2026; the name on the packaging is the only thing that changes between the two pages.
GENERAL or Fujitsu AIRSTAGE: the same machine
Paloma Rheem Holdings, owner of Rheem since 1988, acquired Fujitsu General in August 2025. On January 1, 2026, Fujitsu General Limited became GENERAL Inc.; the Fujitsu brand is being phased out of the equipment, and during the transition the same heat pump is sold under both names. The head office and the research centre remain in Kawasaki, Japan; the factories, the AIRSTAGE products, the model numbers and the warranty program are unchanged. GENERAL is a name that has existed as a trademark since 1946; the company, founded in 1936, marks the 90th anniversary of its founding in 2026. In Canada, Rheem Canada has handled sales since February 2026 and Groupe Master remains our distributor.
We keep both pages online for a simple reason: you may have received one quote under one name and another under the other, and you need to be able to see that it is the same machine. The table below does that line by line.

The twin page, under the original name, is here: Fujitsu AIRSTAGE LZAS1 15,000 BTU. Same units, same certificate, same warranty.
Let's follow a January evening in the double room, with the values certified by NEEP under AHRI certificate 206597212. At −8 °C, early in the evening, the wall-mounted heat pump delivers 11,200 BTU/h at its certified operating point with a COP of 3.25: every kilowatt-hour consumed becomes 3.25 kilowatt-hours of heat, where a baseboard returns exactly one. The mercury drops to −15 °C around midnight; the unit can then push up to 17,500 BTU/h, with a COP of 2.51 that is the best of the entire LZAS1 family at that temperature, the other sizes sitting between 2.14 and 2.32. In the early morning, at −21 °C, the coldest point of its certification, it still delivers up to 18,600 BTU/h, more than its nominal 15,000 BTU size, with a COP of 1.99. For the double room of a well-insulated two-storey home, that means a deep-freeze night without the living room baseboards waking up, and heating that stays nearly half the cost of a baseboard right through to the end of the night. The manufacturer guarantees heating down to −21 °C; beyond that, your main heating tops it up.
In mild weather, the same machine has reserve: at 8 °C, its certified maximum capacity reaches 23,900 BTU/h, 59% more than its nominal size, enough to bring a room left cool during a day away back up quickly. And once the setpoint is reached, it slows down instead of stopping and restarting, which keeps the temperature stable from one end of the double room to the other. The HSPF2 of 12.8 sums all of that up over a full heating season; it is a high value for a wall-mounted heat pump, and it is what weighs on the Hydro-Québec bill from November to March. In summer, the SEER2 of 25.3 and the EER2 of 13.9 cool and dehumidify the same room without the meter racing.
Here are three signs, noted on site, that a 15,000 BTU is the right size for your double room:
- the living room and the dining room form a single volume, with at most a half-wall or an island between them;
- the home's insulation is original or better, and the patio door is double-glazed;
- the open staircase opens onto the room, so that part of the heat also benefits the upstairs landing, without counting on the unit to heat the closed bedrooms.
If the room is much larger, heavily glazed or extended by an open kitchen, we will see it at the visit and propose the capacity that fits rather than this one.
The grant deserves a line of its own. The model is ENERGY STAR certified for cold climates, ID 2417194, and listed among the heat pumps eligible for Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, at $1,344 according to the list of October 27, 2026. That list moves; we confirm the amount at quote time, and our invoice names both units and the AHRI certificate so that your application is complete the first time.
Installing a wall unit in a double room calls for one more decision than elsewhere: which wall gets the head. In a long living-dining room, we prefer to place it on a short side, high up, so that the warm air travels the whole room before coming down, and never directly above the sofa or facing the table. The outdoor unit, at 50 dB(A), goes on a wall bracket or on the ground, raised above the snow, away from bedroom windows. Between the two run an insulated 1/4 and 1/2 in copper refrigerant line, a control cable and a drain, through a single hole, with a line cover outdoors. Summer condensate drains by gravity to the outside or through a condensate pump if the slope is impossible, which we decide with you before the day of the work. A licensed electrician connects the dedicated 208/230 V circuit. Start-up includes the nitrogen leak test, the vacuum, the start and the supply-air temperature check. The refrigerant is R-410A, and Wi-Fi is offered as an option to adjust the room from your phone.
Indoors, the unit runs between 26 and 45 dB(A) depending on fan speed; in the evening, once the room is at temperature, it runs at the low end of that range and does not cover the conversation. On the maintenance side, the indoor filters pull out by hand, rinse under warm water and go back in once dry; regular rinsing, summer and winter, keeps the airflow and the efficiency at the certified level. Once a year, a refrigeration technician cleans the coil and the drain pan and checks the refrigerant charge, with the same parts as on the Fujitsu version.
This model is made for the Lorraine or Rosemère family that wants a warm ground floor in January without running the baseboards, that cares about the grant and that prefers a machine certified for cold climates to a supplemental one. It also suits the living area of a bungalow or the large living room of a single-storey home, anywhere a single open volume has to stay comfortable all year round.
