Quick facts
Hot water in the loop, warm air in the ducts
The Thermo 2000 VenTum 40 hydronic fan coil links a hot-water heating system to a duct network. It takes hot water from a closed loop, circulates it through a 4-row copper coil and blows the heated air into the house, up to 1,100 CFM. The 1/2 HP ECM fan, the built-in 3-speed circulator and the digital controller are housed in the same cabinet.
Who the VenTum 40 is for
It suits homes that already have ductwork and that heat, or want to heat, with an electric boiler or an air-to-water heat pump. You keep forced-air distribution, but the heat comes from water. The front controller displays the unit’s status, temperatures and alarm codes. It manages 2 zones, offers separate airflow settings for heating, cooling, ventilation and dehumidification, a BOOST mode and an anti-freeze function that takes over if the house thermostat fails.
Reading the capacity table for your source
The heat delivered depends mainly on the water temperature. Thermo 2000 publishes a full table, with return air at 70 °F (21 °C). At 3 GPM and between 700 and 1,100 CFM, the VenTum 40 delivers 13,400 to 17,500 BTU/h with 100 °F water, 24,400 to 31,900 BTU/h at 120 °F and 47,400 to 63,200 BTU/h at 160 °F. An air-to-water heat pump often works at the low end of this table, while an electric boiler can aim higher. That is why we size the unit with your source’s actual water temperature, not with the highest figure on the sheet.
For summer, an air conditioner or heat pump coil can be added as an option, with an outdoor unit. The manufacturer associates 2 tons of cooling with 700 and 800 CFM, and 3 tons with 900, 1,000 and 1,100 CFM.
Its place in a Quebec home
The VenTum is multi-position: vertical in a basement in Longueuil, horizontal when height is limited in a townhouse in Montreal. The return opening is pre-cut on the right, left or bottom, which simplifies the connection to existing ductwork. It weighs 99 lb, connects to the water through soldered 3/4 in copper fittings and runs on 120 V single phase. The ductwork must stay within a maximum external static pressure of 0.75 in. w.c. The 16 x 20 x 1 in filter slides into the supplied rack.
What AirGreen’s installation includes
We install the VenTum with electric boilers and air-to-water heat pumps, in Laval, on the North Shore, on the South Shore and throughout Greater Montreal: free on-site estimate, written quote, setting the unit, connecting it to the water loop and the ductwork, placing the supplied air temperature sensors, adjusting the airflow and commissioning. The thermostat is not included; we choose it with you. Sold alone, the unit does not qualify for the LogisVert grant.
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal for more than 15 years, holding RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). Thermo 2000 warrants all VenTum parts and components for 2 years, under its terms.

Forced-air heating with water from an electric boiler or an air-to-water heat pump
The VenTum 40 takes hot water from a closed loop, runs it through its copper coil and pushes warm air through the home’s ductwork. Its ECM fan and built-in circulator are managed by a front-mounted digital controller.
- House with existing ductwork heated by an electric boiler
- Air-to-water heat pump whose heat should be distributed by forced air
- Basement installation in the vertical position, or horizontal when height is limited
- Project adding central air conditioning with an optional coil

Frequently asked questions
Does the VenTum 40 work with an air-to-water heat pump?
Yes. The manufacturer’s table starts at 100 °F water. At 120 °F and 3 GPM, it gives 24,400 to 31,900 BTU/h depending on airflow (700 to 1,100 CFM). We calculate the capacity with your source’s actual water temperature.
Can it also provide cooling?
Yes, with an optional air conditioner or heat pump coil and an outdoor unit. Thermo 2000 associates 2 tons with 700 and 800 CFM and 3 tons with 900, 1,000 and 1,100 CFM.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes. The VenTum is multi-position: vertical or horizontal, with a return opening pre-cut on the right, left or bottom.
Which filter do I need to buy?
A 16 x 20 x 1 in filter, which slides into the supplied filter rack.
What happens if the thermostat fails?
The VenTum controller has an anti-freeze function that takes over if the house thermostat fails, according to Thermo 2000.
What warranty does Thermo 2000 offer?
Two years on all parts and components of the fan coil, in Canada and the United States. Under the manufacturer’s terms, removal, reinstallation and shipping are paid by the buyer.
