Diagnosis of a wall-mounted air conditioner that was no longer cooling efficiently
During a service call in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , a customer contacted us because their Panasonic wall-mounted air conditioner seemed to be stopping producing cold air, even at full power. The indoor unit was working—the fan was running, the lights were on—but the expelled air remained lukewarm. A frustrating situation during a hot spell, especially for a unit known for its reliability.

We connected our digital manifold to the outdoor unit to take pressure and temperature readings . The result quickly confirmed abnormally low pressure , a likely sign of a refrigerant leak .
To locate the source, our technicians used a high-sensitivity electronic leak detector . After several passes around the valves, welds and flare connections, a micro-leak was detected at the liquid pipe connection .
This type of leak is often caused by repeated vibration of the outdoor unit , combined with overtightening of the flare during initial installation . Over time, the joint becomes fragile and the refrigerant slowly leaks out.
System repair and recharge
To correct the situation, we re-flared the gasket , applied a calibrated torque , and replaced the gasket. We then performed a complete vacuum on the system to remove any moisture or air. Once the system was stabilized, we recharged the system with R-410A according to Panasonic specifications.
We then restarted the air conditioner and observed the operating parameters:

Nominal pressures in accordance with the manufacturer's technical table.

Blowing temperature 8°C lower than room temperature.

No abnormal noise, regular compressor cycle.
The system regained its full cooling power, providing a constant and uniform flow of cold air throughout the room.
