A service call in the heat of summer
On a particularly hot day in Brossard , a customer contacted us about a problem with a Midea Aura series wall-mounted heat pump that was no longer blowing cold air. The display panel showed a temperature set to 18°C, but the air emitted remained lukewarm, even after several restart attempts.
At AirGreen , we understand that a loss of air conditioning performance can be caused by a variety of factors, including refrigerant leaks, clogged indoor fans, faulty electronic boards, and poorly calibrated temperature sensors. In this instance, our team dispatched a certified technician to conduct a comprehensive on-site inspection .
Precise diagnosis and initial observations
Upon arrival, our technician noticed several telltale signs:
-
The indoor unit was working, but no condensation was forming on the coils;
-
The fan was running, but at a lower speed than normal ;
-
No abnormal noise was heard from the outdoor compressor, indicating that the problem was probably with the indoor module .
When we opened the hood, we were able to see:
-
Slight oxidation on the electrical connections of the blower motor;
-
A dirty interior temperature sensor , distorting the ambient reading;
-
A turbine slightly clogged with dust, reducing airflow.
AirGreen intervention: rigor and performance
Our team proceeded methodically:
-
Complete cleaning of the evaporator coil and tangential fan using a specialized biodegradable product;
-
Replacement of the defective temperature sensor (thermistor) with an original Midea part;
-
Disassembly and cleaning of the ventilation motor , with tightening of the power terminals;
-
Checking the condensate drain to prevent any leaks or water return;
-
Restart and calibrate the system using a high-precision digital thermometer.
Once the intervention was completed, we carried out a series of tests: the outdoor compressor restarted normally, the airflow was powerful, and the temperature at the outlet of the indoor unit reached 11°C — proof of perfect operation.
Result: immediate comfort and restored efficiency
The customer, visibly relieved, immediately noticed the difference. In less than ten minutes, the room temperature had dropped by 3°C. The Midea Aura heat pump resumed its role seamlessly, with an almost imperceptible noise level.
This type of intervention highlights the crucial importance of regular preventative maintenance , especially before periods of high heat. A simple cleaning and annual check can prevent costly breakdowns and extend the life of the system.
AirGreen Tips for Wall-Mounted Heat Pump Users
For owners of Midea, Gree, Fujitsu or Sharp heat pumps, we recommend:
-
Clean the air filters every 4 to 6 weeks ;
-
Have the refrigerant level checked before summer;
-
Avoid obstructions in front of the wall unit (curtains, furniture, lampposts);
-
To have the probes and sensors inspected once a year;
-
Schedule a complete maintenance in spring or fall , before the heavy use seasons.
