A revealing service call: restoring an LG wall-mounted heat pump in Boisbriand

At AirGreen, we understand that every HVAC service call is much more than a simple technical task — it’s an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to performance, safety, and customer satisfaction. That mindset guided us when we were recently called in to service an LG wall-mounted heat pump installed in Boisbriand, tucked into a tight backyard corner between two brick walls. Although the unit was originally a reliable system, it was clearly showing signs of dust buildup and diminished performance.

Initial inspection: a clogged fan, a compressor at risk

Upon arrival, the condition of the outdoor unit was obvious: fan blocked by dust, debris gathered at the base of the unit, and visible rust on the metal grilles. Placed directly on a concrete surface against a brick wall, the heat pump was clearly suffering from a lack of preventive maintenance.

Our certified technician carried out a complete inspection, following these steps:

  • Checking the refrigerant pressure

  • Monitoring compressor noise and vibration

  • Analyzing the fan airflow

  • Inspecting the condensate drainage system

The verdict: the LG heat pump was technically operating, but at reduced performance, which was directly affecting energy efficiency and indoor comfort.

Full cleaning and decontamination of the outdoor unit

First, we disconnected the power supply to ensure a safe procedure. Then came a deep cleaning session:

  • Manual removal of leaves and dirt

  • Application of a specialized, non-corrosive cleaning solution on the coils and fins

  • Gentle brushing and compressed air cleaning of the fan

  • Controlled pressure rinsing to avoid damage to internal components

Just removing this layer of dirt and buildup allowed us to restore proper airflow and reduce the compressor's operating temperature by nearly 7°C, which will help extend
