In the brick-built apartment buildings and condominiums of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , thermal comfort is a daily concern. In the summer, heat builds up inside the units; in the winter, cold air seeps in through the walls and windows. For this project, we installed a Midea wall-mounted heat pump to provide a reliable, quiet, and energy-efficient four-season solution for a Rosemont family.
Context: a typical Rosemont building
The building in the photo is typical of the area:
-
Red brick facade with casement windows;
-
Garden level in grey stucco, slightly set back;
-
Narrow backyard where every inch counts;
-
Stacked apartments, with significant heating and air conditioning needs.
The occupants wanted:
-
Replace an outdated air conditioning system with a modern and economical solution ;
-
Take advantage of efficient auxiliary heating to reduce your electricity bill;
-
Maintain a clean facade, free of exposed cables or improvised installations.
The choice: a new generation Midea wall-mounted heat pump
After analyzing the thermal load and lifestyle habits, we recommended a Midea wall-mounted mini-split, single-zone heat pump from the Midea28 range, perfectly suited to a medium-sized home.
Why Midea for this project?
-
Excellent heating performance down to low temperatures , ideal for Montreal winters;
-
Inverter technology , which modulates power and avoids energy-intensive on/off cycles;
-
Very low noise level, both indoors and outdoors;
-
High efficiency in air conditioning, which translates into tangible energy savings on the Hydro-Québec bill.
Inside, the Midea wall head (not visible in this photo) is installed in the main room, so as to effectively cover the living area and send the conditioned air to the other rooms of the dwelling.
An outdoor installation on wall brackets
The photo shows the Midea condenser securely fixed to the plastered foundation wall:
-
The unit is mounted on sturdy wall brackets , which allows for:
-
keep the condenser clear of the ground , away from snow, mud and standing water;
-
limit the risk of corrosion and extend the lifespan of the equipment;
-
to facilitate cleaning and maintenance of the floor area.
-
-
The consoles are installed at a height calculated to respect the minimum clearance under the unit while leaving space above for air circulation.
-
Anti-vibration pads are integrated between the unit and the brackets to reduce the transmission of vibrations to the building structure.
This approach ensures stable, quiet and durable operation, while freeing up floor space in the backyard.
Refrigeration lines and power supply: a clean and discreet finish
One of the most visible – and most important – elements of this installation is the vertical brown hood that rises to the center of the facade:
-
It houses the refrigeration lines, communication cabling and condensation drain , from the condenser to the wall head inside.
-
Its color, close to that of the woodwork, blends well with the red brick and the plaster, giving a clean and professional look.
-
The route is perfectly straight, which facilitates future maintenance and limits potential weak points.
Near the unit, an external electrical disconnect device allows the heat pump to be shut off during maintenance operations, in accordance with the electrical standards in force in Quebec.
Performance and comfort in winter as well as summer
This Midea28 wall-mounted heat pump offers the Rosemont family:
-
Efficient air conditioning in summer : the device quickly cools the home, even during heat waves, while dehumidifying the air for increased comfort.
-
Efficient heating in winter : rather than relying solely on electric baseboard heaters, occupants use the heat pump as their primary source for much of the cold season, resulting in significant savings.
-
Precise temperature control : thanks to the different modes (heating, air conditioning, dehumidification, ventilation), the temperature can be adjusted to within half a degree according to the preferences of the occupants.
-
Quiet operation : the outdoor condenser and indoor head are designed to be discreet, which is essential in an environment where dwellings are close together.
An installation designed for Montreal's climate
At AirGreen, we take into account the reality of Montreal's climate for each project:
-
Sufficient clearance around the condenser to prevent snow accumulation;
-
Installation height that protects the compressor while allowing easy access for maintenance;
-
Checking that condensate is draining properly to prevent ice formation;
-
Properly setting the defrosting modes of the Midea heat pump.
The result: an installation ready to face the intense cold of January as well as the heat peaks of July , without compromising on comfort.
Why entrust your Midea heat pump to AirGreen?
By choosing AirGreen for the installation of your Midea wall-mounted heat pump in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie or elsewhere in Greater Montreal, you benefit from:
