Hydro Solar air-to-water heat pumps: the heat comes in through water
A Hydro Solar does not blow warm air: it heats the water in a hydronic system, and that water does the rest. Two layouts, one real question: monobloc or split. We help you choose, and we install across Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.
What goes through the wall?
Split: refrigerant goes through the wall; the water stays inside. The two units: 5 m apart at most.
A Hydro Solar air-to-water unit, a local team.
HYDRO SOLAR signs the heat pump, its manuals and its warranty. AirGreen picks the layout with you and installs it. Each does what it does best.
What HYDRO SOLAR brings
- Monobloc or splitTwo layouts for the same heat: either water or refrigerant goes through the wall.
- Panasonic and CARELPanasonic DC inverter EVI compressor and CAREL controller, according to the Hydro Solar manuals.
- 5 years on partsCertified installer, commissioning report within 21 days and online registration, according to Hydro Solar.
- A local companyAqua Solanor Inc., in Lachine, Quebec, signs the manuals and the warranty.

The result: the right Hydro Solar layout for your water-based system, chosen with you and installed by AirGreen.
Same job, two ways through the wall.
Either way, the compressor stays outside and the heat ends up in your water. What changes is where the heat exchange happens, and so what runs through the wall: water, or refrigerant.

Monobloc

Split
Source: Hydro Solar technical manuals, monobloc and split (description and installation sections), checked October 13, 2026.
The split has one simple rule: 5 m, not one more.
Hydro Solar supplies 5 m of pre-insulated copper lines and sets the maximum distance between the two units at 5 m, horizontal and vertical added together. Measure your run.
Your run between the two units
A split works.
Your run fits within the 5 m supplied. Now find wall space for the indoor unit.

Once the water is hot (or cold), what it is used for.
Pick a use: on the left, what the Hydro Solar manuals say; on the right, what to plan for in your home.
Hot water flows through your emitters.
What Hydro Solar says
- Hydronic space heating is one of the uses the manufacturer lists.
- An outdoor reset curve adjusts the water temperature to the outdoor temperature.
- Terminals are provided for electric backup heat.
What to plan for
- Water emitters: heated floor, fan coils or others.
- A buffer tank, as in the manufacturer’s diagrams.
- Wiring the electric backup.

Three sizes, two layouts, six product pages.
Each size comes as a monobloc and as a split. Each model’s specs are on its product page; the price is on quotation.

What both layouts share.
The components and controls below appear in the Hydro Solar manuals, for both monobloc and split.
Panasonic DC inverter EVI compressor
Variable speed, with enhanced vapour injection (EVI), in the outdoor unit.
CAREL controller
PGD1000 interface to set modes, setpoints and schedules.
Outdoor reset
Water temperature follows the weather: warmer when it is cold, gentler the rest of the time.
Automatic heating and cooling
Automatic changeover between heating and cooling, or control through external contacts.
Modbus and BACnet
Can connect to a building management system; BACnet through a gateway.
Optional Wi-Fi
Optional Wi-Fi adapter and Hydro Solar app; the unit works without it.

Five years on parts, on three conditions.
Hydro Solar’s limited residential warranty is short, but its conditions matter. Enter an installation date to see the deadlines.
What the manufacturer’s text says
- 5 years from installation, or 5 years and 30 days after shipment, whichever comes first.
- Defective parts (materials and workmanship), repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s option.
- The customer pays to ship the part back.
- Labour is not mentioned in the text.
- A replacement part is covered for the rest of the original period.

Your deadlines
The text also sets a limit of 5 years and 30 days after the manufacturer ships the unit: whichever date comes first applies.
The three conditions
What really applies to an air-to-water unit.
The heat pump grants everyone knows mostly target air-to-air units. We checked each program on its own website on October 13, 2026. Tell us how you heat today.
Only for Énergir customers who heat with natural gas and keep it as backup.
The residential guide (version 1.10, September 15, 2026) covers central or wall air-to-air heat pumps and geothermal systems. Air-to-water is not included.
There is no ENERGY STAR certification for air-to-water heat pumps, in Canada or in the United States.
Rénoclimat no longer funds installing or replacing a heating system.
The program ended on March 31, 2026.
The Canada Greener Homes Grant is closed; the oil-to-heat-pump program took its last applications on July 31, 2026.
Programs change often. The exact conditions and amounts are those of each organization at the time you apply.
What people ask us about Hydro Solar air-to-water units.
It takes heat from the outdoor air and transfers it to water. That water then flows through a hydronic system: heated floor, fan coils, tank. It can also make cold water for summer cooling.
Your hot-water system, monobloc or split, chosen with you.
