Beloeil oil grant: your questions
How much does the City of Beloeil give?
$1,000 for a detached single-family home heated 100% with oil, $700 for a semi-detached or row house, $700 per unit for a duplex or triplex, and $450 per unit for a building of 8 units or fewer. For dual energy, it is half: $500, $350, $350 and $225.
Is there still money in 2026?
The City does not publish the balance. By-law 1798-00-2023 pays complete applications in the order received, until the funds run out, and the City can extend or end the program at any time. On September 23, 2026, the online form was active and the by-law had not been amended. Before you sign, call the City’s Environment department at 450 467-2835, ext. 2954.
Does a wall heat pump qualify?
Yes, if the whole new main heating system is electric or renewable, with no combustion: wall heat pumps with electric baseboards, for example. The by-law does not require a central system.
My oil unit is a space heater. Does it qualify?
No. The system being replaced must be the main heat source, with forced hot air or hot water (by-law 1798-00-2023, s. 6). In a multi-unit building, it must be the main heat source of at least one unit.
Do I need a municipal permit?
Yes: the City asks for the permit number with the grant application. It takes 30 days on average once the file is complete, and no work can start before you have the permit in hand. The rules for a heat pump in Beloeil are on our page “Beloeil: permits and regulations”.
Who can remove the burner and the tank?
Beloeil requires a contractor holding the RBQ licence that matches the work they do: an electrician who is a CMEQ member (subclass 16) or a contractor who is a CMMTQ member (15.1, 15.3 or 15.4). With AirGreen, a specialist holding the required licence removes and disposes of the burner and tank, and the invoice details the complete removal.
Can I combine it with LogisVert?
The City presents its grant as additional to LogisVert. The LogisVert guide (version 1.10), however, excludes equipment for which another government body has already paid a grant. Get it confirmed by Hydro-Québec (1 833 396-1888) before counting on both.
I am a tenant, or I rent out my building. Who applies?
The owner. The City grants the rebate only to owners, whether or not they live there: an owner who rents out units can apply, a tenant cannot.
I have a duplex, a triplex or a small building. How much?
$700 per eligible unit for a duplex or triplex ($350 for dual energy), and $450 per eligible unit for a building of 8 units or fewer ($225 for dual energy). One application per building.
When should I apply?
After the work, as soon as possible: the by-law sets no deadline, but the City pays complete applications in order, until the funds run out. All documents must be filed within 60 days, or the application lapses.
Which documents do I need?
Proof of ownership, ID, the permit number, the last oil invoice or annual statement, an electricity bill less than 30 days old, the purchase invoice for the new system and the licensed contractor’s invoice. Add a power of attorney if someone applies for you.
How long until I get the cheque?
The by-law provides for a cheque within 60 days of receiving the form, if the application is complete and compliant and the program is still in force.
Can I replace my furnace with a new oil one?
No. Since December 31, 2023, an oil unit can no longer be replaced with an oil or fossil-fuel unit in an existing residential building (CQLR Q-2, r. 1.1).
My home has hot-water heating. What are my options?
Wall heat pumps for most of the heating and, if needed, an electric boiler to keep the radiators. The boiler is installed by a partner who is a CMMTQ member (subclass 15.4).
What is JeRénovÉco coaching?

How much will I save?
The calculator on this page gives a ballpark using the oil price in Montérégie (233.46¢/L, week of September 21, 2026). Natural Resources Canada measured an average of $1,377 per year for households that switched from oil to a heat pump.
Does the permit cost anything?
No, not for work eligible under the program: Beloeil’s fee by-law (1692-00-2014, Schedule A, section 6 Urban planning) lists it as “Gratuit” (free). A permit to alter a home normally costs $55 plus $4 per $1,000 of work. Still apply before the work: 30 days on average.
What is by-law 1798-00-2023?
It is the City of Beloeil by-law that sets up the financial assistance program for replacing residential oil heating systems. Adopted December 11, 2023 and in force December 13, 2023, it sets who can apply (ss. 3 and 4), the buildings and systems covered (ss. 5 to 8), the amounts (s. 9), the documents (s. 11) and payment (ss. 14 and 15).
How much does heating oil cost in Montérégie?
233.46¢/L before taxes the week of September 21, 2026, according to the Régie de l’énergie: 58% more than the 2025 average (147.9¢/L). The average for the August 2025 to July 2026 season was 168.29¢/L.
Can a condo owner apply?
The by-law includes the owner of a private portion in a divided co-ownership (s. 3), but the City accepts only one application per building (s. 11). Talk to the condo association and have the City confirm the process before the work.
Is Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil covered?
No. By-law 1798-00-2023 covers buildings located in Beloeil. Saint-Mathieu-de-Beloeil is a separate municipality, with its own by-laws.
