BRADFORD WHITE CEHD120 24 to 36 kW Commercial Electric Water Heater (119 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A large reserve and solid recovery so your guests never take a lukewarm shower
In a hotel, an inn or a student residence, hot water is part of the experience. A guest who gets a lukewarm shower remembers it, and talks about it. The Bradford White CEHD120 commercial electric water heater, in its six-element version offered from 24 to 36 kW, is designed for that level of expectation. It combines a 119 US gallon tank (100 imperial gallons, 450 L) with enough power to rebuild the reserve quickly, even when every room is full. AirGreen installs it in lodging establishments and large buildings in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the South Shore and the North Shore.
It is for owners of boutique hotels, motels and B&Bs, managers of student residences and owners of good-sized apartment buildings who want a reliable central supply that is easy to maintain.
Lodging, a demand that is hard to predict
Unlike an office or a school, a lodging establishment does not follow a fixed schedule. Some guests shower early to catch a flight, others late after a show, and the housekeeping team runs the washers between check-outs and check-ins. The water heater must therefore keep a large reserve for busy mornings and recover quickly the rest of the day.
With 119 US gallons and six elements, the CEHD120 meets both needs. The reserve absorbs the wave of showers before check-out time, and the installed power gets the water ready for the laundry and for afternoon arrivals.

Six elements, from 24 to 36 kW
Bradford White specifies that six-element models "can be converted from 24 kW to 36 kW ONLY". For an establishment, that rule has a practical benefit: if you add rooms or a fitness room, the unit’s power can be increased within that range without replacing it. Conversely, conversion cannot go below 24 kW or above 36 kW.
The starting power is chosen according to the number of rooms or units, the presence of a laundry or a kitchen, and the available electrical capacity. We set it with you, then write it into the quote.
The electrical supply
The CEHD120 is ordered at 208 V, 240 V, 277 V, 380 V, 415 V, 480 V or 600 V; voltage and phase must be specified when ordering. All units are shipped from the factory as standard three-phase models, and on 600 V models, only conversion of the kW rating is permitted. Before recommending a configuration, we check the main panel nameplate, the remaining capacity and the wiring route to the mechanical room.
One tank or two in parallel
In an establishment where a hot water outage would be unacceptable, it can be wise to split production between two tanks rather than relying on a single unit. If one is being serviced, the other keeps supplying the rooms. That decision depends on the size of the establishment, the space available and the electrical capacity. We present both options when the situation warrants it, with their advantages and constraints.
Installing a 430 lb tank
The CEHD120 measures 30 1/4 in. in diameter and 64 11/16 in. in height, and weighs 430 lb empty. In a hotel set in an older building, access to the mechanical room may go through a freight elevator, a service staircase or a narrow door. We measure every passage and plan the handling equipment before delivery. Once filled, the tank requires a floor able to carry a significant load, a floor drain for the relief valve and flushing, and clearance in front of the elements.
Protection and durability
The inside of the tank is lined with Vitraglas with Microban, an antimicrobial technology. The factory-installed true dielectric fittings limit corrosion at the joint with the piping, and the vandal-resistant brass drain valve stands up to handling in a utility room used by staff. The six Incoloy-sheathed elements are screw-in and are replaced individually.
Maintenance that does not disturb guests
We recommend a maintenance visit once a year, scheduled during a quieter period: flushing through the low-restriction valve, checking the elements and their connections, and testing the relief valve. When the installation includes two tanks, maintenance is done one after the other, without cutting hot water to the rooms.
Standards and items confirmed at ordering
According to Bradford White’s documentation, the CEHD design is UL certified for field conversion, ASME construction is available and NSF kits are offered, which is useful if the establishment runs a kitchen. The full model number, which specifies the power, voltage, phase and ASME option, is set with you and confirmed at ordering. The manufacturer’s warranty terms that apply to the selected unit are stated in the written quote.
Installation of the Bradford White CEHD120 (24 to 36 kW) by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal, active for more than fifteen years in heating, ventilation and air conditioning and holder of RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). In a lodging establishment, we organize the work to keep the impact on your guests to a minimum. Our work includes:
- a free on-site assessment of demand, the mechanical room, access routes and the electrical service;
- a recommendation on power, electrical configuration and, where needed, a two-tank installation, confirmed in a written quote;
- draining and removing the old tank, then disposing of it;
- connecting the cold and hot water in 1 1/2 in., the relief valve and its discharge;
- the electrical connections, made under our RBQ licence;
- commissioning, temperature setting and a check of each element;
- a maintenance schedule suited to your busy periods.
