BRADFORD WHITE CEHD80 24 to 36 kW Commercial Electric Water Heater (80 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
The balance between reserve and recovery for establishments that cannot run out of hot water
In a seniors’ residence, a childcare centre or a community kitchen, hot water is not a comfort: it is a condition for operating. Baths, cooking, laundry and hand hygiene all depend on a single appliance, and a breakdown is felt immediately. The Bradford White CEHD80 commercial electric water heater, in its six-element version offered from 24 to 36 kW, is designed for this kind of establishment. It combines an 80 US gallon tank (67 imperial gallons, 303 L) with enough power to rebuild the reserve quickly between peaks. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
Why balance matters
A tank that is too small runs out during peaks; a tank that is too large but low in power takes a long time to catch up. In an establishment where needs follow one another all day, neither works. With an 80 US gallon reserve and six elements, the CEHD80 covers both situations: the reserve absorbs the morning peak, when toilets and baths follow one after another, and the installed power gets the water ready for lunch, the dishes and the afternoon laundry.
The establishments we recommend it for
- Private seniors’ residences, where personal care is concentrated in the morning and the kitchen runs on a fixed schedule.
- Childcare centres and daycares, with their many washbasins, their kitchen and their daily laundry.
- Community kitchens and community organizations that prepare meals in large quantities.
- School or workplace cafeterias, whose dish area and cleaning follow every service.
Choosing the power between 24 and 36 kW
The manufacturer offers the six-element version in the following power ratings: 24, 27, 30, 36 kW. According to Bradford White, six-element models "can be converted from 24 kW to 36 kW ONLY". That flexibility is valuable for an establishment planning to expand: the power can be increased later within that range without changing the unit.
The right choice depends on real demand and the capacity of the electrical service. During the visit, we take inventory of the fixtures and connected appliances, note the peak hours with the staff and check the panel. The selected power is then written into the quote.

1 1/2 in. connections to supply many fixtures
The 1 1/2 in. NPT water connections allow a high flow, which matters when several bathrooms, a kitchen and a laundry room draw at the same time. The true dielectric fittings, installed at the factory, electrically separate the tank from the piping and limit corrosion at that sensitive point. During installation, we adapt the connection to the building’s existing distribution and check the relief valve route to the drain.
Temperature and occupant safety
An establishment that welcomes children or seniors has to reconcile two requirements: keeping the tank water hot enough for good hygiene, and delivering water at the taps that does not pose a scalding risk. When designing the installation, we review with you the presence of mixing valves at the points of use and the setting to retain for the tank. These are simple decisions, but they are made before commissioning, not after.
Hygiene and tank protection
The tank is lined with Vitraglas with Microban, an antimicrobial technology. According to Bradford White’s documentation, NSF kits are offered for the CEHD, ASME construction is available and the design is UL certified for field conversion. For an establishment that is subject to inspections, these references simplify exchanges with the authorities and building professionals.
A preventive maintenance plan
In a care or service establishment, maintenance is planned rather than endured. We recommend one visit a year, at a time chosen with management: flushing through the low-restriction brass valve, checking the six screw-in elements and their connections, testing the relief valve and verifying the temperature setting. A worn element is replaced individually, without moving the 335 lb tank from its location.
What remains to be confirmed with you
The full model number of a CEHD specifies the power, voltage, phase and ASME option. Since the six-element version comes in several power ratings, that number is set with you and confirmed at ordering. The manufacturer’s warranty terms that apply to the selected unit are stated in the written quote.
Installation of the Bradford White CEHD80 (24 to 36 kW) by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family business established in Montreal, active for more than fifteen years in heating, ventilation and air conditioning and holder of RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical). In an establishment occupied day and night, the hot water shutoff has to be as short as possible: we prepare the job in advance and coordinate the schedule with management. Our work includes:
- a free on-site assessment of the mechanical room, access routes, demand and electrical service;
- a recommendation on power and electrical configuration, confirmed in a written quote;
- draining and removing the old tank, then disposing of it;
- connecting the cold and hot water in 1 1/2 in., the relief valve and its discharge;
- the electrical connections, made under our RBQ licence;
- commissioning, temperature setting and a check of each element;
- a maintenance schedule handed to management.
Service area
We work in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Brossard, Sainte-Julie, Mirabel, Saint-Eustache and throughout the South Shore and the North Shore.
