THERMO 2000 TURBOMAX30-3 Indirect Water Heater (30 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A compact 30 US gallon indirect water heater for small homes and condos heated by an electric boiler
In a condo, a bungalow or a townhouse heated by an electric boiler and radiant floors, the mechanical space often comes down to a closet. The Thermo 2000 TurboMax 30-3 indirect water heater was designed for this kind of place: a 30 US gallon tank only 18 in in diameter, with a high-exchange-capacity copper coil system that heats domestic water instantly, according to the manufacturer. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
This model lets the electric boiler that already heats the home take over hot water production, and frees the space taken by a separate electric water heater.
A format designed for small spaces
At 59 3/4 in high, 18 in in diameter and 170 lb, the TurboMax 30-3 fits where a wider tank will not: a service closet, a corner of the laundry room, a condo’s mechanical room. It is installed beside the boiler, which keeps the piping short and simple. We still check the clearances needed for the fittings, the relief valve and the drain valve, as well as access to a drain or a drain pan.
How the TurboMax produces hot water
The TurboMax is an indirect water heater: it is connected to the electric boiler, whose heating water supplies its energy. According to Thermo 2000, its high-exchange-capacity copper coil system heats water instantly: domestic water is heated as it passes through the exchanger. The difference between first-hour output and continuous output, in the table below, corresponds to the energy already stored in the tank at the start of use.

Maximum exchange capacity and your boiler’s real output
The manufacturer’s figures are impressive for a 30 US gallon tank, and they need to be read correctly. They show what the exchanger can transfer at most, when the boiler supplies it with up to 380,000 BTU/h (111 kW) for water at 110 °F. A residential electric boiler supplies much less. With it, the TurboMax 30-3 heats water the same way, but its continuous output is limited by the boiler’s capacity, not by the exchanger.
Thermo 2000 also specifies that these values must be reduced for high-temperature and continuous-flow applications. During the assessment, we start from your boiler’s capacity and your habits to tell you what you will really get at the tap, rather than quoting the best line of the table.
Who the TurboMax 30-3 is for
This model suits a couple or a small family in a condo or a compact home heated by an electric boiler. It is also relevant in a renovation project where baseboards are replaced by radiant floors and where heating and hot water are to be grouped in a single room. For a home with several bathrooms or a large tub, a larger TurboMax is more appropriate; we compare the options with you.
Flow, temperature and comfort
The maximum domestic hot water flow of the TurboMax 30-3 is 9 gpm. It is the value that guides the piping diameter and the number of fixtures that can be supplied at the same time; we take it into account in the design. We generally recommend adding a thermostatic mixing valve at the outlet, especially if water is produced at 140 °F or more: it delivers a safe, steady temperature at the taps. The control is connected to the electric boiler with hot water priority, so the boiler devotes a few minutes to it before returning to heating.
Manufacturer’s warranty
Thermo 2000 offers a 15-year residential warranty and a 10-year commercial warranty, as well as a 2-year warranty on mechanical components. The terms that apply to your installation are confirmed in writing with the quote.
