BRADFORD WHITE RE2H80T10-1NCTT Heat Pump Water Heater (80 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A large hot water reserve for very busy homes, heated mostly by a heat pump
Two full bathrooms, teenagers showering one after another, a large bath in the evening and loads of laundry almost every day: in this kind of home, an ordinary electric tank quickly runs out of reserve. The Bradford White RE2H80T10-1NCTT heat pump water heater meets that reality with a tank of 80 US gallons (67 imperial gallons, 303 L) and an integrated heat pump that produces most of the heat from the room air. It is the largest size in the Bradford White heat pump line that we offer, and AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
It suits a tank replacement in a large family home as well as new construction or a major renovation, where a mechanical room suited to a unit of this size can be planned from the start.
Which homes this size is designed for
The RE2H80T10-1NCTT targets households whose hot water use is high and concentrated in time: a family of five, for example, or an intergenerational home where two kitchens and several bathrooms draw on the same tank. It also appeals to homeowners who have installed a large tub or a multi-jet shower and run short of hot water in the evening. For a couple or a small family, a more compact size will often make more sense; we will tell you so frankly during the assessment.
Why tank size matters with a heat pump
The compressor of a heat pump water heater heats water slowly, but with very little electricity. According to Bradford White, this model recovers 6 US gallons per hour with the compressor alone, and 24 US gallons per hour when the compressor and an element work together. In practical terms, the larger the reserve, the less the unit needs its elements during peaks. With 80 US gallons of hot water in reserve, morning showers draw on water that is already hot, and the heat pump rebuilds the reserve during the day and overnight. This is what lets a large family enjoy a heat pump water heater without spending its time in electric mode.

The principle in a few lines
On top of the tank, a fan draws in room air and passes it over an evaporator. The refrigerant picks up the heat from the air, the compressor raises its temperature and a condenser transfers it to the water. A large part of the energy thus comes from the room air rather than from the power grid. The discharged air is cooler and drier, and two electric elements take over when demand requires it.
Five modes at the pace of a large family
Heat pump mode, which uses only the compressor, works very well with a tank this size when the household routine is steady. Standard hybrid mode remains the most versatile choice: the heat pump does most of the work and an element steps in as needed. During busier weeks, such as the holidays or a visit from relatives, hybrid plus mode relies more on the elements to keep the reserve full. Electric mode serves as a backup, and vacation mode slows the unit down while you are away. At commissioning, we set the mode according to your family's actual schedule.
Planning the location of a tall, heavy unit
At 70 13/16 in. tall and 259 lb, this water heater needs a little more planning than a standard replacement. We measure the headroom under the joists, the width of the stairs and doorways, and the strength of the floor at the intended spot. The manufacturer's location requirements, whether the room's air volume, the clearances or the drainage of condensate water, are confirmed on site. In new construction, it is simple to reserve the space and the drain at the planning stage; in an existing house, an unfinished basement or the mechanical room is usually the best choice.
Because the discharged air is cooler and drier, the unit cools and dries the room in summer. In winter, in a heated room, part of the captured heat comes from the home's heating system, a point we take into account in our advice.
Materials and compliance
The tank receives Bradford White's Vitraglas with Microban lining and a protective anode rod. The low-restriction brass drain valve allows quick flushing, and the factory-installed dielectric fittings on the 3/4 in. connections limit galvanic corrosion. The manufacturer states that the model is ENERGY STAR certified, UL listed, C.E.C. listed and meets NAECA requirements.
Power supply
The RE2H80T10-1NCTT runs on a 240 V/208 V single-phase supply, with factory wiring that keeps the two elements from heating at the same time. In a large, well-equipped home, the electrical panel must keep the necessary capacity; we check the existing circuit and the panel load, then confirm the breaker size according to the nameplate. Electrical work is done under our RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 (ventilation, refrigeration and electrical).
Manufacturer's warranty
Bradford White covers this "10" suffix model with a 10-year limited warranty on the tank and 10 years on parts. The detailed terms come with your quote.
