The official documentation confirms modulation ranges of 3,800 to 15,100 BTU in cooling and 5,300 to 16,200 BTU in heating, as well as a region 4 HSPF2 of 11.6 and a nominal COP of 3.7.
This variable capacity is important. The unit does not operate constantly at 12,000 BTU. When the thermal load is low, the inverter compressor can reduce its output; when demand increases, it can rise above the nominal capacity under certain conditions.

Heating down to -30 °C: look at the available BTUs, not just the minimum temperature

- approximately 4,300 BTU/h at -30 °C.
The stated COP is approximately 2.74 at -8 °C and 1.04 at -30 °C.
These figures are essential for understanding actual performance.
The brochure confirms that the system can operate in heating mode down to -30 °C. But “operates at -30 °C” does not mean “still delivers 12,000 BTU at -30 °C.”
At this extreme temperature, the available capacity decreases significantly.
In an installation in Montréal, Laval, or Longueuil, we must therefore compare the cassette’s heating capacity with the room’s heat loss. In many buildings, supplemental heating remains relevant during cold snaps.
A Cold Climate cassette, not just a ceiling air conditioner

Indoor sound levels range from approximately 27.5 to 46 dB(A), depending on fan speed.
For a ceiling cassette, this is particularly useful.
The unit is generally located above the occupied area, but its low-speed operation can remain discreet in:

Senville documentation indicates a moisture removal capacity of 1.45 L/h, or approximately 3.06 pints per hour.
During humid periods in Greater Montreal, dehumidification contributes significantly to comfort.
A room at 23°C with high humidity may feel much less comfortable than a room at the same temperature with better humidity control.
This also means that drain installation is never a secondary detail.

But having exactly 9.65 inches available is not enough.

Proper evacuation remains essential
The fact that an outdoor unit is precharged does not mean that the lines are ready for immediate use.
The lines installed on site initially contain air and moisture.
Before releasing the refrigerant into the circuit, we must properly complete the preparation and evacuation procedures.
