Quick facts
The A.C.R. copper long-radius 90° elbow is used to change direction on a refrigerant line: the copper tube slips into each of its two female ends (C × C), then the joint is brazed. Its curve, wider than a short-radius elbow’s, lets the refrigerant flow with less turbulence.
An elbow for heat pump and air conditioning lines
We use it on the suction and liquid lines of wall-mounted heat pumps, central heat pumps and multi-zone systems, along a wall, under a ceiling or in a service chase. It is also used to extend or repair an existing line.
Eleven diameters, from 1/4 in to 2-5/8 in
The elbow is available for tubes of 1/4 in, 3/8 in, 1/2 in, 5/8 in, 3/4 in, 7/8 in, 1-1/8 in, 1-3/8 in, 1-5/8 in, 2-1/8 in and 2-5/8 in outside diameter. Each size has its own AirGreen code, shown under the title when you select it.
Short radius, long radius or street?
- Long radius: less pressure drop, the right choice on a long suction line.
- Short radius: more compact, for tight spots.
- Street (male × female): one end goes directly into another fitting and saves a coupling.
Good brazing practice
Cut the tube square, deburr it and clean it before fitting. Braze under a light flow of dry nitrogen to keep the inside of the joint clean. Work on a refrigerant circuit is reserved for a qualified refrigeration technician.
Supplied and installed by AirGreen across Greater Montréal
Our refrigeration technicians install the refrigerant piping on every heat pump installation in Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore. RBQ licence 5645-9605-01. A 90° elbow that keeps refrigerant moving
Wherever a refrigerant line has to turn, the long radius keeps the flow smooth.
- Suction (gas) and liquid lines of wall-mount, central and multi-zone heat pumps
- Direction changes along a wall, a ceiling or inside a line-set chase
- Extending or repairing an existing refrigerant line
- Commercial refrigeration circuits

What to know before installing
- The size is the outside diameter of the copper tube it connects.
- Cut the tube square, deburr it and clean it before fitting.
- Braze with a light flow of dry nitrogen to keep oxide out of the joint.
- Work on a refrigerant circuit is reserved for a qualified refrigeration technician.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a short-radius and a long-radius elbow?
The long radius has a wider bend: the refrigerant turns with less turbulence and less pressure drop. The short radius takes less room in a tight spot.
Is the size the tube or the fitting?
The outside diameter of the copper tube. A 5/8 in elbow takes a tube with a 5/8 in outside diameter.
How is it different from a street elbow?
A C × C elbow has two female ends. A street elbow has one male end that slides straight into another fitting, which saves a coupling.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our technicians run the refrigerant piping when they install your heat pump, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
