In cold weather, a motorized damper closes the outdoor air intake and recirculates indoor air through the core to thaw it. The house doesn't go into negative pressure during the cycle: no cold air drawn in through leaks, and none of the imbalance manufacturers warn about when there's a fireplace or a combustion appliance.

Controls
Operating the K8 HRV is a breeze. Once installed, simply press the push button located on the unit's top left side to select high speed, low speed, or to stop it. The LED, located under the push button, will indicate the mode the unit is in. For added convenience, this unit can also be controlled by an optional main control.
Options
The K8 HRV offers a complete line of registers and diffusers, as well as an electrical duct heater. It also features an exclusive wall mounting bracket (no. 19255).
Heat Recovery Core
The K8 HRV features a heat recovery core measuring 10” x 10” x 5.5" and weighing only 4 lbs. This crossflow core is made of polypropylene, ensuring durability and efficient heat transfer. The heat recovery core is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
Requirements and Standards
The K8 HRV complies with several important requirements and standards. It meets the UL 1812 requirements for Heat Recovery Ventilators, the CSA C22.2 no. 113 Standard applicable to ventilators, and CSA F326 requirements for the installation of Heat Recovery Ventilators. The unit's performance has been tested according to CSA C439 Standards, and it is HVI certified.
