Screw the brackets to the ceiling, bend the built-in hooks to hang one side, then clip the other side to the brackets. Plan an access opening of at least 24 × 30 in below the door for servicing.

Without a wall control, the built-in button runs low speed (50 cfm) or high speed (100 cfm), and an LED shows the mode. The installer can swap these factory speeds for 65 and 85 cfm to suit the dwelling.

ERVIt moves moisture too, not just heat
An ERV transfers some moisture between the two airstreams. Useful in a house that gets too dry in winter or takes on a lot of humidity in summer. The trade-off: it generally recovers less heat than a comparable HRV.
