Clean Comfort HS1122-120/240V Steam Humidifier | Installation in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore and North Shore
Is it the right size for your home?
It produces 22.1 gallons of steam a day (at 240 V), enough to humidify about 2,600 sq ft (our estimate). Pick your home's living area.
It's the right size.
For a 900 to 1,500 sq ft house, it's within its range. It will run at part load on ordinary days and keep a reserve for the coldest days.
AirGreen estimate. Clean Comfort publishes no area in sq ft for this model. For an average-construction home, we count 120 sq ft per gallon a day, the ratio in AprilAire's and Lennox's tables. Older or leaky house: go one size up; our estimator confirms it on site.
What it does, in numbers
$134
Electricity per winter
It rarely runs at full output
Same period for every line, November 1 to March 31 (150 days), at Hydro-Québec's Rate D second tier (11.142 ¢/kWh). At full output it costs $0.32 an hour.
Full output with a heat pump. It heats its own water, so it doesn't depend on the air temperature in the ducts.
Output and current: manufacturer's spec (22.1 gal/day, at 240 V), hence 2.9 kW. Cost per winter: 2,000 sq ft house with 9 ft ceilings, 0.35 air changes per hour (the same basis as our air exchangers), −5 °C and 75% humidity outside on average, 35% targeted indoors, minus the moisture a family of four already produces. A leakier house, or a higher setting, costs more.
What you should know about this one
Published, verifiable figures, not brochure claims.
22.1 galWhat it produces per day, at full output
About 84 litres of water turned into steam in 24 hours. The control runs it to match the humidity you set: it rarely runs flat out, except in very cold weather.
SteamIt doesn't depend on warm air
An evaporative humidifier needs warm air to evaporate the water from its pad. Behind a heat pump, which blows cooler air than a furnace, it produces less. This one heats its own water: same output, whatever the system.
0No pad to replace every fall
The electrodes and the cylinder wear according to water hardness. We check them at the yearly service, along with the rest of the system.
3 voltagesOne model, three voltages
11.1 gal/day at 120 V (1.4 kW), 19.2 at 208 V (2.5 kW), 22.1 at 240 V (2.9 kW). Always 12 A on a 15 A fuse.
AutoIt adapts to your water
Automatic fill and drain; its auto-adaptive routine sets the flushing to suit the house's water.
UpkeepWhat gets replaced, and when
HSP-2573990 cylinder.
35%The humidity to aim for in winter, at most
At −7 °C, no more than 35%; at −18 °C, no more than 25%. Above that, the moisture condenses on the windows. The control adjusts for you if it has an outdoor sensor.
5 yearsThe parts warranty
Parts are covered for 5 years by the manufacturer. We register the warranty in your name at start-up.
What it needs on site
A steam humidifier needs an electrical circuit of its own. Our estimator checks the panel, the water supply and the drain before ordering.

Clean Comfort HS1122-120/240V: one steam humidifier, three possible voltages
The HS1122 makes steam in an electrode cylinder and directs it into the air ducts. Since it does not rely on furnace heat, it works just as well behind a heat pump. At 240 V it gives 22.1 gal/day. Clean Comfort publishes no area; by our estimate, it suits about 2,600 sq ft for average construction, at 240 V.
One unit, three hookups
- 120 V: 11.1 gal/day, 1.4 kW. Useful when the panel has no room for 240 V.
- 208 V: 19.2 gal/day, 2.5 kW.
- 240 V: 22.1 gal/day, 2.9 kW.
In every case it draws 12 A on a 15 A fuse. It offers the 120 V of the HS11-120 and the 240 V of the HS22-240 in one unit, with the same 11.4 × 6.9 × 21.4 in. cabinet, at 15 lb.
What it needs on site
A dedicated 15 A circuit at the chosen voltage, a water line and a drain. Fill and drain are automatic, and the auto-adaptive routine sets the flushing to suit the house's water. The HSP-2573990 cylinder is replaced when it is worn out.
AirGreen takes care of it
AirGreen is a family business in Montréal that sells and installs. Our estimator first examines the heating system, room in the panel for a 15 A circuit at the chosen voltage, the water and the drain; the installed price follows that visit.
