Heat pumpBehind a heat pump, it produces less
It evaporates water from a pad using the heat of the air coming off the furnace. A heat pump blows cooler air, so it evaporates less. With a heat pump, talk to our estimator: depending on the manufacturer, we connect it to hot water or suggest a steam model instead.

The HE17M2 is a 17 gal/day bypass humidifier installed on a forced-air furnace. Clean Comfort publishes no area in sq ft for this model. By our estimate, it suits about 2,000 sq ft in an average-construction home, at 120 sq ft per gal/day.
Where it fits in the lineup
It is the manual version of the HE17A2. Both have the same 17 gal/day output and the same pad; the difference is the control. The HE17M2 ships with a manual humidity control that you adjust yourself when the cold sets in. Compared with the HE12M2, it gives 5 gal/day more, in a 17.11 × 9.59 × 18.3 in. cabinet, with an opening of about 9.7 × 12.6 in. The 2 marks the generation launched in 2020, with a 5-year warranty.
On site and for upkeep
It needs a bypass duct, a drain and water pressure from 40 to 120 psi. The valve uses 7 W at 24 V. The pad is replaceable: HE26E1004, treated with Agion antimicrobial, or CCF-A35. It depends on furnace heat; behind a heat pump its output drops.
