About 72 litres of water turned into humidity in 24 hours. The control runs it to match the humidity you set: it rarely runs flat out, except in very cold weather.
Heat pumpBehind a heat pump, it produces less
It evaporates water from a pad using the heat of the air coming off the furnace. A heat pump blows cooler air, so it evaporates less. With a heat pump, talk to our estimator: depending on the manufacturer, we connect it to hot water or suggest a steam model instead.

The GF1099LHD is GeneralAire's highest-output bypass humidifier. It delivers 19 gal/day with 49 °C (120 °F) furnace air, for a home of up to 1,770 sq ft according to the manufacturer. It's aimed at homes a little larger than those served by the GF1042.
A KineticFlo trough and a wider bypass
- Its KineticFlo trough spreads the water across the full width of the pad.
- It needs a 7 in. bypass duct instead of 6 in., with a 14⅛ × 12 in. opening.
- The LHD version ships with the GF-X3 digital humidistat.
On site and for upkeep
The 7 in. bypass duct isn't included in the box. It also needs a water supply, a drain and 24 V. While running, about 4.75 gal/h flows through it, a little more than the GF1042. The GF-GA23 pad is replaced once or twice a season. The 5-year warranty covers the solenoid valve only. GeneralAire doesn't recommend it with a heat pump, or when the plenum air is below 49 °C (120 °F). In those cases, a steam model is a better fit.
