For this residential service call in Longueuil, our AirGreen team was called for a HVAC service call on a Bora wall-mounted heat pump whose outdoor unit was installed high up on a metal wall bracket, near brick siding, vinyl cladding, and a dense hedge. The client reported a loss of cooling efficiency, noisier operation than usual, and the impression that the unit had to work much longer to reach the requested indoor temperature.
The outdoor image of the installation already provides several important technical clues. After cleaning and stabilization, we put the heat pump back into cooling demand to observe its behavior. Outdoor operation is a good indicator but must be correlated with the indoor unit. We therefore verified that the system produced consistent cooling, that the fan responded correctly, that the compressor started normally, and that the unit showed no obvious short cycling.
A unit running for a long time is not necessarily defective. On a very hot day, especially if the house has accumulated a lot of heat, a wall-mounted heat pump can run for an extended period. We advised the client not to let the hedge grow too close to the condenser, not to cover the outdoor unit during use, not to try to straighten the fins with inappropriate tools, and not to ignore vibrations if they return. Repeated vibration can loosen screws, fatigue brackets, or wear certain contact areas around the pipes.
The indoor unit filters must also be cleaned regularly. Even if the outdoor intervention improves heat exchange, a dirty indoor filter can quickly reduce airflow and give the impression that the problem is not fixed.
