A custom installation for a spacious family home
At AirGreen , we recently completed a Gree MultiZone heat pump installation in a modern residence in Blainville , on Montreal's North Shore. This two-story home required a high-performance system capable of heating and cooling multiple zones independently, while providing excellent energy efficiency.
1. Customer needs: uniform comfort and energy savings
The homeowner approached us with a clear goal: to replace his old, inefficient portable air conditioners with a complete, quiet, and energy-efficient HVAC system . The home had three main areas—living room, upstairs bedrooms, and basement—whose temperatures fluctuated significantly throughout the day.
After inspecting the structure, insulation and thermal load, we recommended a Gree Free Match MultiZone system equipped with a 24,000 BTU dual-fan outdoor unit , combined with three 9,000 BTU indoor wall units.
2. Planning stage and choice of location
The positioning of the outdoor unit was crucial. We selected a clear side wall, exposed to partial shade, ensuring:
-
Good air circulation around the condenser;
-
Protection against bad weather and direct frost ;
-
Easy access for future maintenance .
We also mounted the unit on galvanized wall brackets , 18 inches from the ground, to prevent snow obstruction in winter—an essential precaution in the Blainville area.
3. Technical installation of the MultiZone system
Our team of certified technicians has carried out:
-
Installation of the three indoor units in key areas;
-
Routing of refrigerant lines with complete insulation;
-
Connection of communication cables and condensate drain ;
-
Nitrogen leak test to ensure no leaks were present;
-
Finally, vacuum drawing and commissioning with R-410A refrigerant, according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Each indoor unit has been individually calibrated to ensure personalized comfort in each space.
4. Performance testing and final calibration
Once the system was activated, we carried out a series of measurements:
-
Blowing temperature: 7°C in air conditioning mode;
-
Temperature difference (ΔT): 10 to 12°C depending on the area;
-
Measured power consumption: 30% lower than the old system.
The variable speed fans ensured remarkably quiet operation . We also checked the stability of communication between the wall heads and the outdoor unit , a key element for Gree MultiZone systems.
5. Result: optimal comfort all year round
Thanks to this installation, the customer now enjoys consistent comfort throughout the house, regardless of the season. In winter, the Gree heat pump offers excellent heating capacity down to -25°C , while in summer, it maintains stable air conditioning even during heat waves.
The compact and discreet outdoor wall unit blends perfectly into the stone facade of the house, combining aesthetics, silence and performance .
6. Maintenance and durability
We concluded the intervention with personalized maintenance advice:
-
Clean filters every 4 to 6 weeks to maintain optimal airflow;
-
Check the exterior clearances around the condenser;
-
Schedule annual preventative maintenance with AirGreen to extend system life and maintain peak performance.
