A perfectly controlled roof installation
At AirGreen , we recently completed a complete installation of Gree wall-mounted heat pumps on the flat roof of a duplex in Sainte-Julie , on the South Shore of Montreal . This high-rise configuration, while common in modern multi-family buildings, requires exemplary precision to ensure the system's performance and longevity.
The objective of this intervention: to replace two old compressors that had become noisy and energy-consuming with new generation Gree units , recognized for their energy efficiency and reliability in the Quebec climate.
Site preparation and technical specifications
Access to the roof was secured before any work began. The project required:
-
Complete uninstallation of old outdoor units.
-
The installation of new galvanized supports to ensure perfect stability on the white membrane.
-
Connection of refrigeration lines and communication cables between the indoor units and the new compressors.
Site analysis before installation
Before we begin, our team took the time to:
-
Check the integrity of the roof membrane to prevent future infiltration.
-
Identify the optimal route for refrigerant pipes to the indoor units.
-
Ensure that the roof slope allows for adequate drainage in case of rain.
Every detail counts: an improperly adjusted fastener or poorly installed insulation on the roof can reduce the life of the system by several years.
Installation of Gree units: rigor and know-how
Positioning and fixing
The two Gree MultiZone compressors were installed on aluminum supports mounted on treated wooden crosspieces. This slightly raised mounting allows:
-
Optimal air circulation under the units.
-
Protection against the accumulation of water or snow.
-
A reduction in vibrations and noise transmitted to the structure.
Each bracket was adjusted using a laser level to ensure perfect alignment.
Refrigeration and electrical connections
The insulated copper tubes were carefully routed and secured with UV-resistant cable ties.
Our technicians then:
-
Stir the lines precisely to avoid any mechanical stress.
-
Performed a 500 micron vacuum to eliminate all traces of humidity.
-
Checked the circuit for leaks with an electronic detector.
-
Performed the R410A refrigerant charge according to the manufacturer's specifications.
On the electrical side, each unit was connected to an independent circuit breaker and a shielded communication cable connecting the indoor and outdoor modules. This step ensures signal stability and prevents interference.
Final checks and commissioning
Once the system was in place, we launched a full commissioning using Gree diagnostic software.
The results confirmed a flawless installation:
-
Compliant pressure ratings: 118 psi (low) / 405 psi (high).
-
Blowing temperature measured at 18°C in cooling mode.
-
Noise level at only 42 dB , perfect for a residential environment.
Each indoor unit was synchronized and tested in heating and cooling modes, ensuring immediate comfort for the occupants of the duplex.
Result: efficiency, silence and comfort
Thanks to this installation, residents now benefit from:
-
Uniform cooling in all rooms.
-
Energy consumption reduced by almost 30% compared to their old system.
-
Quiet operation , almost imperceptible, even at night.
Our technicians also took care to explain good maintenance practices to the customer:
Regular filter cleaning, checking outdoor units after winter and annual maintenance plan with AirGreen to maintain optimal performance.
AirGreen Expertise on the South Shore
This installation in Sainte-Julie once again demonstrates our expertise in MultiZone wall-mounted heat pumps , particularly suited to flat roofs and restricted spaces.
Our teams work every week on similar construction sites in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, Brossard, La Prairie and throughout the greater metropolitan area .
At AirGreen , we don't just install a device: we optimize every detail to ensure long-lasting performance and total comfort, no matter the season.
