When performance drops without noise or warning
At AirGreen , we know that a drop in performance from a wall-mounted air conditioner can go unnoticed… until indoor comfort disappears. This is exactly what happened during a service call in Town of Mount Royal , in a bright condo where a Fujitsu wall-mounted air conditioner appeared to be working, but was barely cooling.
The attentive customer noticed that the wall unit was blowing lukewarm air despite the absence of an error code. Our mission: to find the invisible cause of a silent breakdown .
Diagnosis: Lack of refrigerant and an invisible leak
Upon arrival, we carried out a complete check of the Fujitsu system . The indoor unit, installed high up in a central corridor, presented an impeccable appearance: no noise, no unusual flashing, clean filter. However, the air outlet temperature was only 19 °C , when it should have been below 10 °C .
Our technicians immediately suspected a lack of refrigerant .
Using a digital manifold , we measured:
-
Abnormally low suction pressure (75 psi) ;
-
Reduced discharge pressure (180 psi) ;
-
A small temperature difference between the coils .
The conclusion: a slow leak in the refrigeration line connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor compressor. Using our electronic detector, we located a micro-leak at a flare connection , probably due to insufficient tightening during the initial installation.
Intervention: tightening, vacuuming and complete recharging
To restore the system to full performance, our team carried out the following steps:
-
Professional tightening of the flare connection with a torque meter calibrated according to Fujitsu standards.
-
Nitrogen leak test to ensure no residual leaks remained.
-
Thorough vacuum (500 microns) to eliminate all traces of humidity in the circuit.
-
Complete recharge with R410A refrigerant , adjusted according to the exact length of the lines.
-
Restart and test in air conditioning mode , with performance readings.
Immediate result:
-
Air outlet temperature at 8.5°C ;
-
Pressures stabilized at 125 / 370 psi ;
-
Nominal power consumption;
-
Perfect silence and constant airflow.
Result: restored comfort and maximum efficiency
Once the repair was complete, the customer noticed the return of rapid and even cooling throughout the entire upstairs space. The air was once again circulating vigorously, and the room temperature gradually dropped to 22°C in less than 10 minutes.
We also took the time to explain to the customer the warning signs of a lack of refrigerant :
-
Warm air without error message;
-
Longer compressor cycle;
-
Increased energy consumption;
-
Light frost deposit on the exterior ducts.
Finally, annual preventative maintenance has been scheduled to ensure that the Fujitsu system maintains its optimal performance in the long term.
