An AirGreen intervention to restore summer comfort in a Montreal apartment

Step 1: Complete cleaning of the outdoor condenser
We first performed a deep cleaning of the outdoor unit using a biodegradable product designed for HVAC coils.
Each fin was carefully brushed, then rinsed under low pressure to avoid any deformation.
This cleaning immediately improved airflow around the condenser—a critical factor in maintaining optimal refrigerant pressure.
Step 2: Checking the refrigeration circuit and compressor
The Midea model installed here was a 12,000 BTU wall-mounted air conditioner , running on R-410A refrigerant .
After restarting, we observed the operating pressures: they were slightly lower than the norm.
Using our electronic detector, we then checked the circuit for leaks — no leaks were detected.
However, the compressor discharge temperature was found to be a little high, a direct consequence of accumulated dirt and prolonged thermal stress.
A minimal additional refrigerant charge was added to bring pressures back to an optimal level.
Step 3: Cleaning the drain and interior coil
Secondly, our technician accessed the indoor unit to clean the evaporator coil and unclog the drain pipe using a mini air compressor.
The flow of condensation water was quickly restored, confirming the proper functioning of the drainage system.
We then replaced the very dirty air filter with an original Midea model, thus guaranteeing optimal air flow and quality.
Result: a refurbished air conditioner
As soon as we finished our intervention, the Midea unit was again blowing cold, dry air, with an outlet temperature measured at 10°C — perfectly within the standards for efficient operation.
The customer immediately noticed a difference: the compressor noise had stabilized , and the room reached its set temperature in less than ten minutes.
