A service call in the middle of the spring thaw
At AirGreen , we know that a wall-mounted air conditioner must be reliable from the first thaw of spring. In Brossard , one of our customers contacted us after noticing that his Sanyo wall-mounted system , installed several years ago, was no longer adequately cooling his dining room. The blown air remained lukewarm despite maximum air conditioning demand.
The service call was scheduled for the next morning, and our team of certified technicians attended for a complete diagnosis and prompt return to service .
Diagnosis: an old device showing signs of wear
Upon initial visual inspection, our technicians noticed that the well-maintained Sanyo wall-mounted unit was over ten years old. The filters had recently been cleaned, but the evaporator coil was partially clogged with fine particles of dust and grease.
A temperature and pressure measurement quickly confirmed a drop in the R410A refrigerant charge , symptomatic of a micro-leak on the discharge line .
Diagnostic steps:
-
Checking the supply voltage and current drawn by the compressor;
-
Inspection of flare fittings and wall passage;
-
Leak test using an electronic detector ;
-
Analysis of suction and discharge pressures on digital pressure gauge;
-
Checking the airflow and cleanliness of the tangential fan.
The detector test revealed a slow leak on a slightly cracked flare fitting , probably due to repeated vibrations over the years.
System repair and upgrade
Once the leak was located, our technicians undertook the complete procedure of refurbishing the circuit:
-
Recovery of the remaining gas in compliance with environmental standards;
-
Re-flare with controlled cutting and flaring;
-
Installing a new flare nut and applying precise tightening torque;
-
Complete 45-minute vacuum draw to ensure absolute sealing;
-
Recharge the system with the exact amount of R410A refrigerant prescribed by Sanyo;
-
Final performance test and airflow adjustment.
After these steps, the air conditioner regained its full efficiency. The measurements showed a blown air temperature of 12°C , confirming optimal performance .
Result: restored comfort and extended durability
The customer immediately noticed the difference. In less than fifteen minutes, the indoor temperature dropped from 26°C to 22°C.
We took advantage of the visit to check the general condition of the system: condensate, fan blades, and electronic board. Everything was functional.
To ensure system longevity, we recommended annual AirGreen preventative maintenance , including:
-
Cleaning the evaporator coil and fan;
-
Checking pressures and connections;
-
Complete disinfection of the front panel;
-
Inspection of electrical connections and control board.
