Repair of a Zephyr wall-mounted air conditioner in Sainte-Julie

Performance diagnosis: air less cold than expected

At AirGreen , we were contacted by a Sainte-Julie customer concerned about the reduced performance of their Zephyr wall-mounted air conditioner . Despite regular maintenance, the unit was no longer producing air cool enough to maintain the desired indoor temperature. One of our certified technicians was dispatched to the site to perform a complete diagnosis of the HVAC system .

Step 1: Measuring the blowing temperature

The first step was to measure the temperature of the blown air using a precision infrared thermometer . The reading was 11.2°C , while the ambient temperature was around 20°C . This discrepancy, although indicating minimal compressor operation, suggested a partially reduced efficiency of the unit.

Our technicians know that for a Zephyr wall-mounted air conditioner in good condition, the difference between the suction and discharge temperatures should normally exceed 10 to 12 °C . In this specific case, the difference was at the acceptable limit - a sign of a weakened refrigerant level or internal fouling .

Step 2: Checking the refrigeration circuit

After turning off the power and securing the workstation, we carried out an inspection of the refrigeration circuit . A slight trace of oil around the flare connection of the external compressor confirmed a micro-leak of refrigerant .

We then have:

  • performed a nitrogen leak test at 350 psi;

  • detected the leak using an electronic detector ;

  • replaced and tightened the flare fitting ;

  • then recharged the system with R410A refrigerant according to the nominal quantity from the manufacturer Zephyr.

Step 3: Cleaning and Recalibration

Before restarting the system, the internal filter and evaporator were cleaned with a biodegradable product to remove accumulated dust. The tangential fan was also balanced to reduce vibration and noise.

Once the circuit was recharged, the technician took another measurement: 6.8°C at the outlet , an efficiency gain of almost 40% . The air conditioner returned to optimal performance , ensuring constant comfort in the main room.

Step 4: Preventive Maintenance Tips

As always, our team took the time to explain to the customer some simple practices to extend the life of their device:

  • clean the air filter every four weeks during the summer season;

  • keep the outdoor condenser clear of any obstacles;

  • schedule an annual professional interview before each summer.

Final result

Thanks to a quick and methodical intervention, the Zephyr wall-mounted heat pump was able to regain its full efficiency. The customer immediately noticed the difference: cool, quiet, and stable air, even in the heat.

At AirGreen , we combine precise diagnosis , careful repair and local expertise to ensure the comfort of our customers in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, the North Shore and the South Shore .
