In this recent project in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension , our AirGreen team carried out a complete repair of a Carrier wall-mounted heat pump installed on a typical Montreal residential building. The area, characterized by light-colored duplexes and triplexes with limited side access, often requires precise and well-planned interventions, especially when the outdoor unit is installed close to the foundation.
System type: Residential wall-mounted heat pump
The system in place is a wall-mounted heat pump (mini-split) , a solution widely used in central Montreal neighborhoods due to its excellent energy efficiency and its ability to provide heating and air conditioning without complex ductwork.
Brand and model: Carrier – Residential wall-mounted range
The Carrier brand , supplied manually and used as the main reference, is recognized for the reliability of its compressors and the robustness of its outdoor units.
Since the exact model was not legible on the nameplate , we identified the system as a recent generation residential Carrier wall-mounted heat pump , consistent with the compact condenser format observed on site.
Context and problem observed
The occupants contacted us following significant performance losses :
-
Insufficient cooling in summer.
-
irregular cycles,
-
unusual noise coming from the outdoor unit.
Upon visual inspection, several salient clues were visible:
-
The condenser grille is clogged with urban debris and fine dust.
-
Traces of slight oxidation on some screws and supports, typical of prolonged exposure to Montreal weather.
-
Installation on a raised metal support , compliant but requiring adjustment to reduce vibrations.
AirGreen Diagnosis: A Methodical Approach
Our diagnosis took place in several stages:
-
Complete electrical check
Check the connections, capacitor and protections to rule out any power supply anomalies. -
Analysis of the refrigeration circuit
Pressure and temperature measurements to confirm a slight imbalance in the refrigerant , affecting overall performance. -
Mechanical inspection
Checking the fan, blades and compressor to identify the source of the vibrations and abnormal noise.
Repair work carried out
After validation with the client, we carried out the following interventions:
-
Deep cleaning of the Carrier outdoor condenser , immediately improving heat exchange.
-
Adjustment and stabilization of the metal support , reducing vibrations transmitted to the building structure.
-
Refrigerant level correction , according to manufacturer Carrier specifications.
-
Complete testing in air conditioning and heating modes to ensure stable performance.
Results obtained
Once the repair was complete, the Carrier wall-mounted heat pump was back to normal:
-
silent operation ,
-
optimal cooling capacity ,
-
improved energy efficiency, reducing the load on the compressor.
The occupants immediately noticed increased comfort and a more consistent indoor temperature, even on typical hot Montreal days.
AirGreen's expertise in the heart of Montreal
At AirGreen , we work daily on Carrier systems and other recognized brands in demanding urban environments such as Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension . Our approach is based on:
-
a rigorous technical analysis ,
-
lasting repairs rather than temporary ones,
-
total transparency with our residential clients.
Each intervention is designed to extend the lifespan of the equipment and ensure long-term peace of mind.
