A heat pump suspended under cover: a typical case of overheating in Sainte-Thérèse
When a customer from Sainte-Thérèse , on Montreal's North Shore , contacted us, their Gree wall-mounted heat pump was no longer blowing cold air. Installed on a wall bracket under a patio shelter, this configuration, while practical for protecting the compressor from the elements, had one disadvantage: poor air circulation around the condenser .

Complete diagnosis: a compressor stifled by lack of ventilation
Upon our arrival, our technicians carried out a methodical inspection:

R-410A refrigerant pressure above standards: a clear indicator of cycle overheating.

Intermittent noise from the exterior fan , caused by a tired motor that has repeatedly overheated.
After these checks, the diagnosis was unequivocal: the condenser fan had to be replaced and the installation area required correction to improve ventilation .
On-site repair: fan replacement and installation adjustment
We started by turning off the power and removing the condenser cover . Once the motor was disassembled, we found that its shaft was partially seized by moisture. The replacement was carried out with an original Gree motor , which was perfectly compatible.
During the repair, we:

Cleaned the coils at high pressure with a specialized biodegradable product.

Checked the wall mounting brackets : some had flexed slightly over time, which could create vibrations. We tightened and reinforced them.

Added anti-vibration rubber spacers to limit noise and extend engine life.
Once everything was reassembled, we powered the system back up and performed a full test. The fan started without any unwanted noise, and the refrigerant temperature returned to ideal parameters.
Result: restored performance and secure installation
A few minutes after restarting, the heat pump was blowing air at 11°C , which corresponds to optimal performance for a Gree wall-mounted system in air conditioning mode. The compressor returned to a stable cycle , without untimely shutdowns.
We also recommended some simple adjustments to the client:

Remove two boards from the patio roof above the unit to allow better air circulation.

Maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm between the top of the condenser and any obstacle.

Have the coils cleaned every spring before the hot season.
