Repair of a Sharp wall-mounted heat pump in Brossard

Precision work on a Sharp Eco Inverter unit

In Brossard , on Montreal's South Shore, our AirGreen team was called to diagnose a Sharp Eco Inverter wall-mounted heat pump that was showing signs of declining performance. The customer, a single-family home owner, had noticed that the unit was running non-stop but failing to maintain a comfortable temperature.

Initial observation: a noisy and inefficient system

Upon arrival, we noticed that the Sharp outdoor unit was securely mounted on metal wall brackets attached to a brick facade—a typical configuration for South Shore residences. The unit, while seemingly clean, made an unusual noise upon startup and displayed an insufficiently cold indoor air temperature .

Our first hypothesis: fouling of the condenser combined with a reduced refrigerant charge , often caused by small progressive leaks at the connections.

Step 1 — In-depth HVAC System Diagnosis

Our certified technicians carried out a series of tests to establish an accurate diagnosis:

  • Measurement of operating pressures using calibrated digital pressure gauges;

  • Inspection of flare fittings and welds for traces of oil indicative of leaks;

  • Compressor noise analysis and current draw verification;

  • Checking airflow and cleanliness of the outdoor coil.

Measurements confirmed low pressure on the discharge side , indicating a partial loss of R410A refrigerant. A minor leak was located at the service valve connection .

Step 2 — Repair and upgrade of the refrigeration circuit

After isolating the power supply, our team:

  1. Replaced the defective main fitting gasket ;

  2. Performed a complete vacuum draw of the circuit;

  3. Recharged the heat pump with the exact amount of R410A recommended by Sharp;

  4. Cleaned the condenser fins with a biodegradable product to improve heat exchange;

  5. Checked the discharge and blow-out temperature to ensure optimal performance of the inverter compressor.

Step 3 — Optimization and final verification

Once the repair was complete, we performed a full operational test. The compressor noise level had returned to normal and the blown air temperature was 7.3°C , confirming a return to full system efficiency.

We also advised the customer to perform annual preventative maintenance to prevent this type of problem from recurring. A simple cleaning and refrigerant charge check can significantly extend the life of a Sharp Eco Inverter system.

Result: restored comfort and lasting performance

At the end of the intervention, the house was enjoying consistent comfort and reduced energy consumption . The client particularly appreciated our transparent and methodical approach - each step of the diagnosis and repair was explained to him in detail.

At AirGreen , we believe that good HVAC service is based on technical rigor , clear communication and quality work well done .
