Is replacing an existing system eligible?

According to the official LogisVert guide (version 1.10 – September 15, 2026), certain restrictions on equipment replacements are clearly set out:

Ineligible cases:

1. Replacing a heat pump after a breakdown covered by a warranty or insurance is not eligible.

2. Partial replacement , such as a single evaporator, condenser, or coil, is not eligible.

3. Installations made outside of habitable spaces , such as attics or uninsulated roofs, are not recognized.

Potentially eligible cases:

1. Replacing an old unit (for example, an old end-of-life heat pump or an inefficient old wall-mounted air conditioner) with a new ENERGY STAR certified heat pump, as a complete system, is eligible if all the program’s other conditions are met and the replacement is not paid for by a warranty or insurance.

2. Combining the new heat pump with another measure, such as roof insulation with air sealing, opens the door to the 5% bonus.

Concrete examples experienced by AirGreen

Example in Laval – eligible strategic replacement

A client in Laval had an old wall-mounted air conditioning system dating from 2010, which was non-reversible and energy-intensive. We installed a Gree Extreme 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump , approved on the LogisVert list. The replacement was deemed eligible because:

• The old unit was not a heat pump,

• The new system met the technical requirements (BTU, SEER, HSPF, AHRI),

• The installation was carried out by an RBQ certified contractor.

Result: A grant of $1,704 was approved .

Longueuil example – replacing a recent heat pump

A client wanted to replace a 2018 Fujitsu wall-mounted heat pump, still working, with a newer version. Under the current guide, this replacement can be eligible if it is a complete new system, ENERGY STAR certified, and not paid for by a warranty or insurance. What can you do to maximize your chances of eligibility?

1. Check whether your project falls within one of the eligible measures of the LogisVert program :

• Whether your current system is an old heat pump, a wall-mounted air conditioner or another unit, a complete replacement with a new ENERGY STAR certified heat pump may be eligible.

2. Choose a heat pump from the official list of eligible devices :
