Can I apply for multiple grants if I live in a multiplex or condo?

Maximize your LogisVert subsidies if you live in a multiplex or condo

Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program offers an excellent opportunity for owners of multiplexes and condos to benefit from financial assistance for the installation of energy efficiency measures, such as the purchase of wall-mounted heat pumps , heat pump dryers , or induction ranges . A question that often comes up is: is it possible to submit multiple grant applications when you live in or own a multiplex or condo ?

At AirGreen , HVAC installation specialists in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, North Shore and South Shore , we regularly assist clients in this type of situation. Here is a clear and detailed guide to help you understand your rights, eligibility criteria, and how to maximize your financing through multiple or combined applications .

Understanding the types of housing eligible for the LogisVert program

According to the official LogisVert program guide, the following accommodations are eligible:

  • Condos (individual co-ownership accommodation)

  • Multiplex (residential buildings with two to 19 units)

  • Apartments in buildings with 20 or more dwellings , provided that the dwelling is served by an individual electricity meter and that the owner carries out the work.

It is therefore entirely possible to receive subsidies for several dwellings if each unit meets the eligibility criteria, which is common in plexes (duplexes, triplexes, quadruplexes) or multi-dwelling buildings .

Single subsidy per housing unit or per project?

The LogisVert grant is awarded per energy efficiency measure implemented in an eligible dwelling . This means that:

  • Each individual dwelling (condo or multiplex unit) may be the subject of a separate application if the conditions are met.

  • If you own multiple units , you may submit one application per unit , provided each unit has its own installed equipment.

  • Tenants can also request certain measures (heat pump dryer, induction stove) if their name appears on the bill.

Concrete example with AirGreen in Montreal

Let's take the example of an AirGreen client who owns a triplex in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie . He decided to install three Gree Extrême 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pumps , one per unit, to improve tenant comfort and reduce his energy bill.

With our guidance, he submitted three separate applications , one per dwelling, each accompanied by specific invoices, AirGreen's RBQ number, a photo of the nameplate, and proof of ownership. The result: three separate LogisVert grants of $1,704 each , for a total of $5,112 .

What about enhanced funding for multiple measures?

The enhanced financing allows you to obtain an additional 5% subsidy if you submit several eligible measures in the same application , and within nine months of the first installation.

For example, if you install a wall-mounted heat pump in a condo AND an induction cooktop , you can combine these two measures in a single application and receive an additional 5% on the total amount of assistance granted.

Attention :

  • If only one measure is eligible after verification, the enhanced funding does not apply.

  • Two different measurements must be included in the same residential unit to benefit from the bonus.

Multi-dwelling: should you submit one application or several?

It depends:

1. You own a condo :

  • You can submit one application per condo if you carry out eligible work (heat pump, stove, etc.).

  • If you take several measurements in the same condo , you can group the measurements in a single request to benefit from the bonus.

2. You own a multiplex (e.g. triplex) :

  • Each accommodation may be the subject of a separate request if the work is carried out individually.

  • If you carry out several measurements in the same accommodation , you can group them into a single application and obtain preferential financing.

3. You own a building with more than 20 units :

  • Only units with individual electricity meters are eligible.

  • The work must be done in the private dwelling , not in the common areas.

Technical details to be met to be eligible

When submitting a claim, please ensure that each invoice includes:

  • Your name and full address

  • The installer's RBQ number (AirGreen systematically provides it)

  • The exact model , serial number , and proof of performance (AHRI number)

  • A clear photo of the outdoor unit (nameplate visible)

The grant amount for a high-efficiency heat pump is $140/1000 BTU at -8°C . For example, for an 18,000 BTU unit, the grant reaches $1,704 .

Our advice for optimizing your LogisVert requests

At AirGreen, we recommend:

  • Plan multiple installations in the same home within a nine-month window.

  • Group eligible measures into a single application to obtain enhanced funding.

  • Make one request per dwelling if you own several units.

  • Keep all invoices, photos, and technical evidence to submit a complete application and avoid delays.
