What happens if only part of the installation is completed?

Understanding the impacts of a partial installation under the LogisVert program

Under Hydro-Québec's LogisVert program, grants for the installation of energy efficiency measures—such as efficient heat pumps , caulking work, or the purchase of heat pump dryers —represent a valuable incentive for homeowners across Quebec. But one question remains frequently asked and crucial: what happens if the installation is only partially completed?

At AirGreen, we've helped hundreds of clients in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, as well as on the North and South Shores apply for LogisVert grants. Drawing on our field experience, we offer a comprehensive overview of the consequences, risks, and steps to take when the installation of an eligible measure isn't completed within the prescribed timeframe.

The essential conditions of the LogisVert program

The LogisVert program provides a maximum period of 9 months from the date of implementation of the first eligible measure to complete the work and submit the grant application. This means that even if you install several pieces of equipment, the countdown begins from the first installation .

In the event of a partial installation (for example, a wall-mounted heat pump installed, but the caulking work postponed), the application may not meet the requirements for combined financing, or may even be deemed ineligible if complete proof of work is not submitted within the deadline.

Consequences of an incomplete installation

Loss of eligibility for the grant

If a measure included in the application is not completed or the proof of installation does not meet the criteria defined in the LogisVert guide (compliant invoice, photo, RBQ number, etc.), Hydro-Québec may reject the partial measure . This means:

  • No grant amount is paid for this measure;

  • Other measures could be reassessed individually;

  • The 5% bonus for installing multiple measures becomes ineligible.

Extension of processing times

An incomplete file systematically results in significant delays . In our experience, this can double the standard 10 to 12 week delay announced by Hydro-Québec.

Risk of repayment obligation

In the event that a subsidy is paid in error for a partial or ineligible measure, Hydro-Québec reserves the right to demand a full refund of the amount.

How to avoid problems with partial installation?

Strategic planning of works

At AirGreen, we recommend that our clients plan all eligible work within a nine-month timeframe . By submitting a single combined submission, you not only increase your chances of receiving the grant, but also the additional financing bonus offered by LogisVert.

Work with a certified and experienced installer

A significant portion of grant refusals result from incomplete or non-compliant invoices . AirGreen ensures that each invoice issued contains all required information: customer name, address, RBQ and GST/QST numbers, detailed description of the work, AHRI number in the case of heat pumps, etc.

Concrete examples from the field

Successful installation in Longueuil: Heat pump + caulking

A Longueuil customer had a FUJITSU KZAH R-32 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump installed and completed the caulking work within 7 weeks. The result: a $2,520 grant was awarded, including the 5% bonus for combined measures.

Partial installation in Laval: Loss of bonus

In Laval, another customer installed only the heat pump and did not complete the caulking on time. As a result, only the basic grant was paid, without the bonus . In addition, the customer had to provide several additional documents, which delayed the payment by more than 16 weeks.

What to do if an installation remains incomplete?

1. Do not submit the file immediately

Until all eligible measures have been completed , it is strongly recommended that you do not submit your application through the LogisVert portal. Premature submission triggers the analysis process and may freeze eligibility on an incomplete file.

2. Communicate with Hydro-Québec

If in doubt, contact LogisVert support at 1-833-396-1888 to report the situation. While they do not allow formal deadline extensions, they can guide you on best practices.

3. Contact AirGreen to finalize the work
