LENNOX doesn’t call the MMD a furnace
Its form calls it the “MMD Air Handler”, a multi-position air handler. Backup heat comes from an optional electric element, installed on site inside the cabinet.
LENNOX, form 211233 (Sept. 2026), p. 1-4.LENNOX calls it an “air handler”: the MMD on R-32, matched with an MMLD or MMPD, and the Merit-series CBA25UH on R-410A. Backup heat comes from an element installed on site, from 3 to 20 kW depending on the unit. Pick the family and the size: we show the elements LENNOX allows and the circuit they need.
MMD on R-32 and Merit-series CBA25UH, from 1 to 5 tons. The heating element is chosen with the unit.
From the LENNOX forms: catalogue number, output, and for the single-zone MMD, the minimum circuit amperage and maximum protection at 208 and 230 V. The output to install is decided at the visit.
MCA: minimum circuit amperage. MOP: maximum overcurrent protection, fuse or breaker. S6 or M6: the letter after the size says which outdoor unit it connects to, single zone (S) or multi-zone (M).
Three elements allowed on this size: 3, 5 and 10 kW. The element is installed on site, inside the cabinet.
MCA and MOP printed by LENNOX for each element, at 208 / 230 V.
The MMD goes with the R-32 MMLD and MMPD outdoor units; the CBA25UH, with the R-410A Merit. At the same size, here is what LENNOX publishes for each.
Both take the place of an electric furnace; here is what changes. LENNOX forms 211233 (Sept. 2026) and 211248 (April 2026), ML14XP1 bulletin 210761; LENNOX warranty certificates.

LENNOX, form 211233 (Sept. 2026), p. 1-4.The September 2026 revision of the MMD form removes the limit on the downflow conversion kit: the heating element can now be used when the unit blows downward.
LENNOX, form 211233, Sept. 2026 revision.LENNOX spells it out: in Canada, for system installation and replacement; in the United States, for repair or replacement only.

Multi-zone only: connects to the MMLD S6M multi-zone units (1.5 to 3 tons) and mounts at least 0.6 m (1.97 ft) off the floor. For a single zone, it is the MMD S6.
Airflow measured from 0.10 to 0.50 in. w.g. (0.90 for 4 and 5 tons), dry coil and 1-inch filter in place. Allow 24 in. of clearance to remove the filter, coil or blower. Expansion valve factory installed.
Wireless remote, LENNOX wall controls, or the VSTAT09P-1 adaptor so a 24 V thermostat runs the unit (transformer supplied on site).
CBA25UH installation instructions 507751-03 (Jan. 2025); LENNOX multi-zone MMD installation manual (Jan. 2025); MMLD multi-zone form 211075 (July 2026).
It is the same unit. We say electric furnace because that is what people search for; LENNOX says “air handler”. Backup heat comes from the electric element installed inside the cabinet.
The letter after the size says which outdoor unit it connects to. S6: single zone, with a single-zone MMLD or MMPD. M6: multi-zone, only with an MMLD S6M multi-zone unit. At the visit, we start from the outdoor unit you will have.
With the MMD, yes if it is a 24 V thermostat: the LENNOX VSTAT09P-1 adaptor lets it run the unit, with a transformer supplied on site. Otherwise: wireless remote or LENNOX wall controls.
The MMD installs upflow, downflow or horizontal; downflow uses the VDK-2W or VDK-3W kit, and the heating element is allowed there since September 2026. The CBA25UH ships upflow and horizontal; downflow uses the Y9658 or Y9659 kit.
Not on its own. LogisVert targets the heat pump, and the amount is based on the system’s certified heat, outdoor and indoor together. An MMD matched with an MMLD or MMPD forms a certified system: see the LENNOX central heat pumps page. Only Hydro-Québec confirms the assistance granted.
AirGreen, which holds RBQ subclass 16 (electrical) along with 15.8 and 15.10. Wire, fuse and disconnect sizes follow the Canadian Electrical Code, as LENNOX asks.
MMD: 5 years basic, extended to 12 years on parts in Québec without registration (EW900011-01); the V1EHK element stays on the basic warranty. CBA25UH: 5 years on parts, plus 5 years by default in Québec (W900000-02 and EW900012-01). LENNOX does not cover labour.
We don’t guess them over the phone. We come and look at the house, the ducts, the location and the electrical panel, then we suggest the unit and the element. The estimate is free.
We come and see the location, the ducts and the panel, choose the unit and the heating element with you, and the quote says which LENNOX outdoor unit it matches.
