BRADFORD WHITE RE250S6-1NCPP Electric Water Heater (47 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
The 47 US gallon family reserve for the basement of a single-family home
In a bungalow, a cottage-style house or a two-storey home in Greater Montreal, the electric water heater in the basement supplies the kitchen, the bathroom, the powder room and the laundry room. When it reaches the end of its life, it has to be replaced with a reliable unit of good capacity that does not require redoing the installation. The Bradford White RE250S6-1NCPP electric water heater meets this need with a reserve of 47 US gallons (39 imperial gallons, 178 L), a tank lined with Vitraglas with Microban and a 6-year limited warranty on the tank and on parts. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
One family, one bathroom and one powder room
A 178 L reserve suits a family of three or four sharing a main bathroom and a powder room. It allows two showers in the morning, the dishwasher in the evening and a few loads of laundry during the week without running out of hot water, as long as everything does not happen at exactly the same moment. If the house has several full bathrooms or a large tub, we will offer you a larger size.
How the tank keeps up with the morning rush
When the first shower starts, hot water leaves from the top of the tank and cold water enters at the bottom. The upper thermostat responds and the upper element first rebuilds a zone of hot water near the outlet. Once that zone is up to temperature, heating switches to the lower element, which reheats the rest of the volume. Since the RE250S6-1NCPP is configured for non-simultaneous operation by default, only one element heats at a time. This mechanism is what allows a tank of this size to keep up with a normal family routine.

Insulation that holds the heat
The 59 W standby loss published by Bradford White represents the heat the tank loses on average when it is not in use. It is a good indicator of the tank's insulation. In a home where nobody is in during the day, hot water stays in reserve for long hours: a moderate standby loss limits the number of times the elements have to restart to maintain the temperature.
Weight and handling
Empty, the RE250S6-1NCPP weighs 143 lb. Two technicians with a suitable hand truck carry it without difficulty, but the basement stairs, doors and turns must allow it. We measure these passages during the assessment, and we confirm the unit's dimensions before ordering to make sure it fits where the old tank stood.
Standard fittings for a clean replacement
The water and electrical connections of the RE250S6-1NCPP are 3/4 in. NPT, a common format in homes in the region. In most replacements, the existing piping therefore connects without major work. The factory-installed dielectric fittings separate the steel of the tank from the copper of the plumbing, which limits corrosion at the joint. When we find old fittings or a worn shut-off valve, we replace them during the same visit rather than leaving them to fail later.
What the electrical panel must supply
In a house, this type of tank is fed by a two-pole 240 V circuit. The exact element wattage of the unit ordered is confirmed with the order and written in your quote; it determines the size of the breaker and conductors. In non-simultaneous operation, the demand on the panel remains that of a single element. If you want simultaneous operation, it must be specified when ordering and the panel capacity must be checked.
Manufacturer's warranty
The RE250S6-1NCPP is covered by a 6-year limited warranty on the tank and 6 years on parts. The full terms are provided with the quote.
Replacement of your water heater by AirGreen
AirGreen is a family-owned heating and cooling company established in Montreal and active for more than fifteen years. We hold RBQ licence 5645-9605-01 in ventilation, refrigeration and electrical work. After a free on-site estimate, you receive a written quote. On the day of the work, we proceed in this order:
- shutting off the circuit and the water supply, then draining the old tank;
- disconnecting and removing the old unit;
- setting the RE250S6-1NCPP level, in the same location or in a better-suited one;
- connecting the cold and hot water in 3/4 in. NPT;
- installing a new relief valve and its discharge line;
- the electrical connection according to the confirmed wattage;
- filling completely, purging air at the taps, powering up and setting the temperature;
- explaining the maintenance and the checks to carry out.
Extending the life of your tank
A few simple steps help a water heater last. A partial flush once a year removes the sediment that insulates the lower element and causes crackling. The anode protects the tank by wearing away in its place: inspecting it regularly allows it to be replaced before it is used up. Water pressure that is too high at the house entrance also strains the tank; if we find it excessive, we offer you a pressure-reducing valve.
Service area
We install this model in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, as well as in Pierrefonds, Duvernay, Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Saint-Lambert, Varennes and throughout the South Shore and the North Shore. Our financing program lets you spread out the payment.
