Some homes need a lot of hot water in a short time: a deep tub in the main bathroom, a rain shower, two full bathrooms and a powder room, a family of five getting ready at the same time in the morning. The Bradford White RE265T10-1NCWW electric water heater is designed for this pace, with a reserve of 61 US gallons (51 imperial gallons, 231 L), two 4,500 W elements and a first-hour rating of 73 gallons (276 L). High-demand homes

What wears out a water heater is not a full day's use, but the peaks. Filling a large tub and then running two or three showers in a row quickly empties a mid-size tank. The RE265T10-1NCWW is aimed at homes where these peaks are frequent: new houses with several bathrooms, extended houses, or large families who have already known cold showers with their old unit.

What the first-hour rating means in practice

Bradford White publishes a first-hour rating of 73 gallons (276 L) for this model. This value adds the stored hot water to the water the elements reheat during one hour of intensive use. In practice, it gives a good idea of what the house can draw during its morning or evening peak without running short. During the assessment, we compare this rating with your peak consumption, based on the number of showers, baths and appliances used during the same hour.

A recovery of 21 US gallons per hour

After a peak, what matters is how quickly the hot water comes back. With its 4,500 W elements taking turns, the RE265T10-1NCWW reheats 21 US gallons per hour for a 90 °F rise, or 79 L/h for a 50 °C rise. The upper element responds first, so hot water is available again at the top of the tank well before the whole reserve is rebuilt. For a family, this means a house that recovers between the morning routine and the evening one.

Simultaneous or interlocked

The factory wiring interlocks the elements: only one heats at a time. Bradford White also offers simultaneous operation, to be specified when ordering, in which both elements can heat together. This option doubles the current draw and requires a matching circuit and panel. In a house, the interlocked configuration is almost always the best: it already delivers the recovery published by the manufacturer, without overloading the electrical installation. The breaker and conductors are checked during the assessment.

Construction for heavy use

A tank that works hard must be well protected. The tank receives Bradford White's Vitraglas with Microban lining; the factory-installed dielectric fittings on the 3/4 in. connections limit corrosion between steel and copper; and the screw-in immersion elements can be replaced without touching the tank. With a published standby loss of 71 W, the large reserve holds its heat well between peaks.

The extended warranty of the "10" suffix

Bradford White distinguishes its versions by the model suffix: the manufacturer states that the "6" suffix is replaced with "10" for the extended-warranty version. The RE265T10-1NCWW is therefore the extended-warranty version of the 61 US gallon size. The exact durations that apply to the tank and to parts are confirmed in writing with the quote, before any order.
