THERMO 2000 TURBOMAX120-9A 125 Indirect Water Heater (120 gallons) | Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, South Shore & North Shore
A 120 US gallon indirect water heater with 2 1/2 in connections for commercial kitchens, laundries and hotels
In a restaurant kitchen, a commercial laundry or a hotel, hot water is used in large volumes and at high flow. When the building is heated by an electric boiler, the Thermo 2000 TurboMax 120-9A 125 indirect water heater can handle production: a 120 US gallon tank, a 58.9 sq. ft. copper coil system, a maximum domestic hot water flow of 27 gpm and 2 1/2 in male sweat potable water connections. AirGreen installs it in Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, on the South Shore and on the North Shore.
2 1/2 in connections for high flows
The diameter of the potable water connections is the first visible difference of this model. At 2 1/2 in, the tank connects to a large-diameter commercial distribution, without a reduction at the outlet, which limits pressure losses when several appliances draw hot water at the same time. The boiler connection is 2 in NPT male. According to Thermo 2000, the high-exchange-capacity copper coil system heats water instantly, as it passes through the exchanger.

Hotels, laundries and kitchens: three peak profiles
A hotel has a very sharp peak in the morning, when guests shower before checking out, then another in the evening. A commercial laundry fills several washers at once, several times an hour. A restaurant kitchen draws hot water almost continuously during service, for the pot sink and cleaning. These three profiles have one thing in common: high flow over an extended period. That is where the 27 gpm maximum flow and the 2 1/2 in connections make sense. Thermo 2000 specifies that the values must be reduced for high-temperature and continuous-flow applications, which is precisely the case for a laundry or a kitchen; we take this into account in the sizing.
A 125 psi maximum pressure to respect
The maximum pressure of this model is 125 psi. In a commercial building, supply pressure can be high, especially when a booster pump feeds the upper floors. We measure the pressure at the water entrance and install a pressure-reducing valve upstream of the tank when needed. The relief valve is chosen according to this maximum pressure, and an expansion tank absorbs the expansion of the heated water. If the measured pressure does not allow this limit to be respected reliably, we tell you before ordering and review the configuration with you.
The electric boiler sets the real output
The published exchange capacities, up to 1,165,000 BTU/h (341 kW) for water at 110 °F, describe what the exchanger can transfer at most. With an electric boiler, the real continuous output depends on the capacity that the building’s electrical service can devote to hot water. Commercial uses often require hotter water: at 140 °F, the table shows 1,038 US GPH in the first hour and 990 US GPH continuous; at 160 °F, 569 US GPH and 549 US GPH, always at full exchange capacity. We establish with you the available capacity and the expected output before any order.
Installation in the mechanical room
The TurboMax 120-9A 125 weighs 450 lb empty and is 76 3/4 in high and 28 in in diameter. We plan the delivery route, free height, floor capacity and proximity to a drain. A thermostatic mixing valve at the outlet delivers the right temperature to hand basins and showers, while appliances that require hotter water are supplied accordingly. The tank drain valve, supplied as standard, is used during yearly maintenance scheduled outside opening hours.
Manufacturer’s warranty
Thermo 2000 offers a 10-year commercial warranty, a 15-year residential warranty and a 2-year warranty on mechanical components. The category applicable to your establishment is confirmed in writing with the quote.
