Quick facts
The A.C.R. copper short-radius 90° elbow turns a refrigerant line at a right angle over a very short distance. Both ends are female (C × C): the tube fits into them, then each joint is brazed. It is the elbow for places where space is tight.
When to choose a short-radius elbow
We install it near the connections of an outdoor unit or a coil, between two joists, in a closet or behind a unit, in short anywhere a long-radius elbow or a bend would not fit. The line stays tight to the wall or the corner, which also makes for a neater installation.
Short radius or long radius?
- Short radius: compact, for tight spaces.
- Long radius: a wider curve, less pressure drop; preferred on a long suction line when space allows.
- Bend: on soft tubing, bending with a tube bender avoids a joint when the available radius allows.
Eleven diameters, from 1/4 in to 2-5/8 in
The elbow is offered for tubes of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1-1/8, 1-3/8, 1-5/8, 2-1/8 and 2-5/8 in outside diameter. Each size has its own AirGreen code, shown when you select it.
Good practices
Cut the tube square, deburr it and clean it before fitting, then braze under a light flow of dry nitrogen. Work on a refrigerant circuit is reserved for a qualified refrigeration technician.
Supplied and installed by AirGreen across Greater Montréal

A 90° turn in a tight space
The short radius turns as close as possible: the line stays tight to the wall, the corner or the unit.
- Line exits close to an outdoor unit or a coil
- Tight passages between joists, in a closet or behind equipment
- Line returns hugging a wall or a corner
- Small refrigeration circuits where every inch counts

What to know before installing
- The size is the outside diameter of the tube it connects.
- On a long suction line, use a long radius where space allows.
- Cut the tube square, deburr it and clean it before fitting.
- Braze with a light flow of dry nitrogen; refrigerant circuit work is reserved for a qualified technician.

Frequently asked questions
Short radius or long radius: which one?
Short radius when space is tight. Long radius when you can afford it, especially on a suction line, because its wider bend restricts the refrigerant less.
Is the size the tube or the fitting?
The outside diameter of the tube. A 3/8 in elbow takes a tube with a 3/8 in outside diameter.
Can I bend the tube instead?
On soft tube, yes, with a bender, if there is room for the bend radius. The elbow is the answer in a corner too tight to bend.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our technicians run the refrigerant piping when they install your heat pump, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
