Quick facts
The 2-in-1 wall vent is a modular vent that combines air intake and air exhaust functions in a single model. It terminates a 4, 5 or 6 in round duct on the exterior wall and comes in white, brown or black to match the siding.
Simplifying an air exchanger’s openings
An air exchanger (HRV) needs a fresh air intake and a stale air exhaust on the exterior wall, and the house often has other exhausts, such as the bathroom fan’s. With the same vent model for these functions, the exterior keeps a uniform look and the choice comes down to diameter and colour. When ordering, tell us the intended use of each vent: we confirm the configuration before installation.
Diameters and colours
- 4 in: white, brown or black
- 5 in: white or black
- 6 in: white, brown or black
The diameter is that of the round duct to be connected, often that of the unit’s collar.
Installation best practices
Respect the distance between intake and exhaust required by the exchanger’s manufacturer and by the code, and place the fresh air intake away from a dryer vent, a gas vent or a garage. Slope the exhaust duct toward the outside, insulate ducts that pass through a cold space and seal the vent’s perimeter to the siding with an exterior sealant.
