The protective roof extension is a kit that adapts our protective roof to large two-fan outdoor units. These units, common on multi-zone systems and high-capacity heat pumps, are taller than a single-fan unit.

A large unit deserves the same protection

A two-fan unit often serves the whole house: losing it in the middle of winter means losing all your heating. Under a sloped roof or a gutter, it gets the same snow and the same icicles as a small unit, over a larger surface. The extension lets you protect the unit over its full height instead of leaving part of it exposed.

How to order it

  • The extension adds on to the protective roof: it does not replace it.
  • Find the outdoor unit’s dimensions in its manual.
  • Send us the unit model: we confirm the right roof and extension combination.

An installation that respects airflow

A two-fan unit moves a lot of air. The roof and its extension are installed with the clearances required by the unit’s manufacturer, so air can flow in and out freely. They protect the top of the unit; the height above the snow on the ground depends on the stand.

05 · Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does my unit need the extension?

If it has two fans stacked one above the other, a protective roof alone is usually too short. Send us the outdoor unit model and we confirm.

Do I also need the protective roof?

Yes. The extension is a kit that adds to the protective roof to fit large units.

Does the roof restrict airflow?

Not if it is installed with the clearances the equipment maker asks for.

Can you install it?

Yes. Our technicians fit the roof and its extension during the installation or on an existing unit, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
