Quick facts
The ground stand for central heat pump holds the outdoor unit of a central heat pump above the ground. It is available in two sizes, 21 × 32 in and 16 × 28 in, for units wider than those of wall-mounted heat pumps.
Why a central heat pump must be raised
A central air conditioner only works in summer; a slab at ground level is enough for it. A central heat pump, on the other hand, heats the house all winter. Its outdoor unit defrosts regularly and releases water that has to drain under the unit. Set too low, it ends up in the snow, air circulates poorly and ice builds up. The stand keeps the unit clear, season after season.
Choosing the size
- 21 × 32 in
- 16 × 28 in
The size is chosen based on the outdoor unit’s footprint and weight, given in its manual. We confirm it with the exact model of your unit.
Installation tips
The stand sits on a stable, level base: slab, pavers or compacted gravel. On a membrane or fragile pavers, add plastic foot pads under each leg, and anti-vibration pads between the unit and the stand. Respect the clearances required by the heat pump manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions
Which size do I need?
It depends on the outdoor unit’s footprint and weight, listed in its manual. Send us your central heat pump model and we confirm the size.
Why not just a slab?
An air conditioner only runs in summer. A central heat pump heats all winter: set too low, it ends up in the snow and defrost water freezes under it.
Does the stand need to be fastened?
It must sit on a stable, level base. Depending on the location and the wind, our technicians anchor or weigh it down.
Can you install it?
Yes. Our technicians set up the stand and the outdoor unit when they install your central heat pump, everywhere in Greater Montréal.
