Installation and distribution of the 3-ton YORK HH8 central heat pump throughout Greater Montreal.
Side discharge, variable speed, R-454B refrigerant, ENERGY STAR® Cold Climate certified.
The HH8 carries the ENERGY STAR® “Cold Climate” designation. This is not a sales pitch: it is a certification requiring performance verified in cold weather, and few central systems have it. It is also listed among ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient products. YORK approves heating operation down to -25 °C.
Certified performance, not advertised performance. Paired with the YORK JHE36B5CD2SS1 blower cabinet, the HH836E2S11 is rated at 19.0 SEER2, 11.0 EER2, and 9.0 HSPF2 under AHRI certificate 215853295. It still delivers 28,400 BTU/h at -8 °C and 26,000 BTU/h at -15 °C - nearly 90% of its rated capacity at -8 °C.
Variable speed changes the nature of the system. Instead of starting at full capacity and then stopping, the twin rotary compressor modulates and continuously maintains the setpoint: smaller temperature fluctuations, better humidity control in summer, and quieter operation because it rarely runs at maximum capacity.
The blower cabinet is part of the system. The JHE36B5CD2SS1 is a 48.4-inch-high, 17.5-inch-wide, and 21.5-inch-deep all-in-one unit with a constant-torque ECM motor, supplied with its thermostatic expansion valve and A2L sensor factory-installed. It delivers 1200 CFM and can be installed in upflow, downflow, horizontal right, or horizontal left configuration - giving you flexibility when choosing a location in a basement or attic.
Up to 30% smaller footprint. Side discharge makes it possible to install the unit where a vertical-discharge system will not fit - in a narrow yard, against a wall, or in a restricted clearance area. The five-wire connection simplifies installation, and the unit accepts a conventional thermostat or a gas furnace from another brand for dual-fuel operation.
YORK heat pumps are also eligible for provincial and/or federal rebates, such as Chauffez Vert, Efficient Heat Pumps (Hydro-Québec), and Canada Greener Homes.
