The name says 12,000 BTU: that's the unit's size class. Durastar publishes 12,000 BTU/h at 230 V, and 11,800 at 208 V, the supply in many buildings.
3,535 WThe heater that takes over
The "G" in DRPTHP12Y41G1A means a 3.5 kW heater: 3,535 W (10,900 BTU/h) at 230 V, 2,900 W at 208 V, on the 6-20P plug of the LCDI cord supplied. It heats when the heat pump can no longer keep up.
3.4The COP published at 8 °C
Durastar publishes a heat-pump COP of 3.4: 10,800 BTU/h of heat at 230 V. Each kWh you pay for gives back 3.4 in heat, against 1 for the heater or a baseboard.

L'été d'une chambre louée à la session, réglé par celui qui l'occupe

Le confort d'été, sans promesse sur le chauffage
Ce que la fiche documente concerne la belle saison, et c'est là que l'appareil se juge : 12 000 BTU/h pour une unité d'environ 650 pieds carrés selon notre règle d'environ 18 000 BTU/h par 1 000 pieds carrés, ajustée selon l'isolation et la fenestration. L'appareil inverse aussi son cycle pour chauffer, mais DuraStar ne publie aucune capacité de chauffage : nous n'en annonçons pas, et le chauffage de l'immeuble reste la référence l'hiver.
Une unité d'essai avant de commander les autres
L'ouverture type et le manchon posé de niveau
Les unités étant identiques, la première pose sert de gabarit. Nous coupons à l'empreinte du caisson, 42 x 21 x 16 po, avec un linteau si un montant porteur est interrompu, puis nous posons le manchon mural de niveau sur la largeur avec sa pente vers l'extérieur. La grille extérieure vient au-dessus de la ligne de neige, alignée d'une unité à l'autre pour que la façade reste régulière.
Les essais avant la remise des clés
Sur l'unité d'essai, nous vérifions l'écoulement du condensat sous charge, l'étanchéité du pourtour, la prise 220 V, le cordon, le passage d'un mode à l'autre et le calage du caisson. Ce relevé devient la fiche de référence des unités suivantes.
Ce qu'il faut expliquer au locataire
- Un délai de trois minutes au redémarrage protège le compresseur.
- De la vapeur blanche sort de la grille en mode chauffage : c'est un dégivrage, il se termine seul.
- De l'eau s'écoule côté extérieur par temps humide ; c'est le condensat.
Une odeur de brûlé, un disjoncteur qui saute, un code d'erreur récurrent ou de l'eau côté logement commandent l'arrêt et un appel au service. Le filtre se nettoie aux deux semaines et un entretien CVAC annuel reprend serpentins, écoulement et raccords ; notre service de nettoyage passe l'immeuble entre deux sessions.
