Typical 375 sq ft room with one exterior wall, in Montréal: 2,679 kWh of heat per winter (Environment Canada 1991–2020 climate normals). The heat pump is counted only at 8 °C and warmer, where Durastar rates its output; below that, the heater, at the price of a baseboard. If it keeps heating in colder weather, the bill goes down.

The name says 9,000 BTU: that's the unit's size class. Durastar publishes 8,800 BTU/h at 230 V, and 8,500 at 208 V, the supply in many buildings. Better to read it here than on the spec sheet after installation.
3,535 WThe heater that takes over
The "G" in DRPTHP09Y41G1A means a 3.5 kW heater: 3,535 W (10,900 BTU/h) at 230 V, 2,897 W at 208 V, on the 6-20P plug of the LCDI cord supplied. It heats when the heat pump can no longer keep up.
3.8The COP published at 8 °C
Durastar publishes a heat-pump COP of 3.8: 7,800 BTU/h of heat at 230 V. Each kWh you pay for gives back 3.8 in heat, against 1 for the heater or a baseboard.

51.5 dB(A) at low speed, 52.5 at high speed, as published by Durastar. In a bedroom, that's the number that decides the complaints: the unit runs at night, two metres from the bed.

L'espace que l'appareil ne prend pas
Ces trois cotes disent surtout ce qui disparaît du projet. Pas de dalle ni de support en ruelle, aucune ligne frigorifique le long d'un mur mitoyen, aucun caisson suspendu au plafond d'un corridor déjà bas. Le volume occupé est celui du mur, et il est le même dans toute la gamme : passer à la Thermopompe PTAC DURASTAR | 12000 BTU - R410A ne change ni la coupe ni le manchon.
Une chambre sur ruelle : accès au mur, dégagements et voisinage immédiat
L'ouverture côté ruelle
La coupe reprend l'empreinte de 42 x 21 x 16 po, avec un linteau si un porteur est interrompu. Le manchon mural est posé de niveau avec sa pente vers l'extérieur, et la grille extérieure se place au-dessus de la ligne de neige, hors de l'axe d'un camion qui recule et à l'écart d'une fenêtre de chambre voisine, y compris celles de l'immeuble d'en face.
Les dégagements intérieurs et le mobilier de chambre
Un monobloc souffle dans une seule direction, sans réseau pour répartir l'air. Le lit, un bureau ou des rideaux longs placés dans l'axe renvoient l'air là où il ne sert à rien. Dans une chambre d'hôtel, le plan de mobilier est fixe : nous plaçons le caisson en fonction de ce plan, pas l'inverse.
Une ruelle, une grille, un filtre
- Un délai de trois minutes au redémarrage protège le compresseur.
- De l'eau s'écoule côté ruelle par temps humide : c'est le condensat.
- De la vapeur blanche à la grille en mode chauffage signale un dégivrage.
Une odeur de brûlé, un disjoncteur qui saute, un code d'erreur récurrent ou de l'eau côté chambre commandent l'arrêt et un appel à notre service de réparation. Le filtre se nettoie aux deux semaines, davantage sur une ruelle poussiéreuse, et un entretien CVAC annuel reprend serpentins, écoulement et raccords.
