Installation of a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in Boisbriand

Energy comfort in the middle of winter

In the middle of the cold season, our AirGreen team installed a Gree wall-mounted heat pump in a single-family home in Boisbriand , on the North Shore of Montreal . The client, a new homeowner, wanted to replace an old, energy-intensive electric heating system with a more efficient and economical solution .

The installation conditions were typically wintery: frozen ground, snow accumulation around the foundations, and temperatures well below zero. Despite these challenges, our team demonstrated the precision and rigor that AirGreen is known for in the residential HVAC field.

Installation diagnosis and planning

Before proceeding with the installation, we carried out an energy analysis of the house :

  • Area to be heated: approximately 1,200 sq. ft .

  • Good insulation, but old windows causing slight thermal losses.

  • No ductwork system, which made the wall-mounted heat pump ideal for this project.

The customer chose a Gree Lomo+ model, renowned for its stable performance down to -25°C , its silent operation and its high-efficiency inverter technology .

Outdoor installation: precision and durability

The outdoor unit was installed on galvanized wall brackets , securely fixed into the concrete foundation. This elevated position helps prevent snow accumulation and facilitates the flow of defrost drainage.

Our technicians have:

  • Drilled an insulated passage for the refrigerant copper pipes .

  • Protect the ducts with a black insulating trunking , ensuring an aesthetic finish and protection against frost.

  • Performed a complete vacuum of the circuit with a vacuum pump to eliminate all traces of humidity.

  • Checked R-410A gas pressure before commissioning.

This meticulous step ensures optimal performance and extends the life of the compressor.

Interior installation and commissioning

The indoor wall unit was fixed in the main living area, cleverly positioned to ensure even distribution of warm air to adjacent areas.

After powering up, our technicians carried out:

  • A refrigerant leak test with an electronic detector.

  • An infrared temperature detection test to measure the difference between intake air and exhaust air.

  • Remote control–unit synchronization for optimal control of heating mode.

Result: a gain of 5°C in less than 10 minutes , confirming the effectiveness of the Gree system even in freezing weather.

Winter maintenance and recommendations

Before leaving, our team offered the client several essential maintenance tips to maximize the performance of their new heat pump:

  • Clear snow and ice at least 50 cm around the compressor .

  • Clean the interior filters every 3 to 4 weeks .

  • Have the system checked by an AirGreen technician every fall , before the cold season.

We also recalled the importance of effective natural defrosting , facilitated by the high position of the condenser.

Results: energy efficiency and lasting comfort

After installation, the Gree heat pump was measured with an energy efficiency (COP) greater than 3.8 , reflecting a reduction of more than 35% in heating costs compared to the previous electric system.

The customer immediately noticed a difference in comfort:

“The warm air is constant and pleasant, without noise or variation. I didn't think a wall-mounted unit could perform so well at -20°C!”

This type of positive feedback reflects the quality of the work carried out by our AirGreen certified technicians , always attentive to the smallest detail.
