Mitsubishi wall-mounted air conditioner repair in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie

An aging device, but still capable of performing well

At AirGreen , we regularly receive calls for Mitsubishi wall-mounted air conditioners that have been installed for several years, often in apartments and duplexes in the heart of Montreal. This is the case with this Mitsubishi wall-mounted unit located in a home in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie , a typical neighborhood where HVAC systems are often modernized in stages.

The customer contacted us because the unit, which had been installed for over 15 years, was no longer blowing cold air , even at full power. An intermittent clicking noise was also heard every time it was started.

Initial diagnosis: a classic sign of internal wear

Our certified technician carried out a complete diagnosis:

  • Checking supply voltages and internal electrical connections;

  • Blower motor test and start capacitor inspection;

  • Checking the ambient temperature sensor and the main electronic board.

Measurements quickly revealed that the blower motor capacitor was at the end of its life , causing the fan to start irregularly and overheat internally. In addition, the circuit board had a cracked solder joint on the compressor control relay—a common fault on older Mitsubishi wall-mounted models.

Intervention: Targeted restoration and lifespan extension

Rather than recommending an immediate replacement, we have opted for a complete and lasting repair :

  1. Replacement of the blower capacitor with an equivalent UL certified model;

  2. Electronic board repair : professional re-soldering of relays and continuity testing;

  3. Complete cleaning of the evaporator coil and fan blades;

  4. Checking the condensate drain and disinfecting the drain pan;

  5. Final performance test on a complete cooling cycle.

Result: an old device, but still efficient

After the intervention, the Mitsubishi wall-mounted air conditioner resumed smooth and quiet operation. The customer was pleasantly surprised to see that the room temperature dropped from 26°C to 21°C in less than 15 minutes , proof that the compressor and refrigeration circuit were still in good condition.

We advised the customer to plan for a complete replacement within the next 2 to 3 years , recommending our high-efficiency R32 Gree and Midea models , which are much more economical and compatible with current Transition Énergétique Québec subsidies.

Maintenance Tips for Old Wall-Mounted Air Conditioners

To extend the life of older units, our technicians remind:

  • Clean the air filters every two months during the summer season;

  • Check the drains to avoid water leaks on the walls;

  • Have capacitors and relays inspected before each summer to prevent starting failures;

  • And above all, plan annual preventive maintenance with an RBQ and CCQ certified company like AirGreen.
